Visser Three
Visser Three is the chief antagonist of the Animorphs series. He is the one that killed Elfangor, the alien that bestowed the morphing power on the Animorphs. Visser Three acquired his high ranking by being the only Yeerk to take the host of an Andalite - Elfangor's Commanding Officer, Alloran.

Ax
Ax is an Andalite, a member of four-legged aliens that developed the technology to acquire animal DNA and "morph" that animal. He joins the Animorphs after they rescued him from his ship, which had crashed into the sea. His brother, Elfangor, shared the morphing technology with the teenagers that became the Animorphs before he died. Tobias is Ax's nephew.

Tobias
Tobias was an awkward teen that Jake saved from bullies one day. Shortly after becoming an Animorph, he became stuck in his red-tailed hawk morph, forcing him to retain this form for much of the series (and later, after regaining the power to morph, this remained his default form). Tobias' girlfriend is Rachel, and his father is Elfangor, the alien that gave the Animorphs their powers, and through him, Ax is his uncle.

Cassie
Cassie is the most compassionate of the Animorphs, and is often considered a "hippie" or "tree-hugger" for being more environmentally concerned. Her parents operate an animal clinic, and her mother works at a zoo/amusement park, allowing the Animorphs to access many forms of animals. She is best friends with Rachel and in love with Jake.

Marco is the resident slacker joker of the Animorphs, but his quips and taunts merely hide the pain he faces every day. He's best friends with Jake and has a flirty rivalry with Rachel. His mother is the host of Visser One, a prominent Yeerk leader.

Despite being a typical fashonista girly-girl, Rachel is a violent monster in combat, to a degree that makes her comrades worry about her. Her cousin is Jake, her best friend is Cassie, and her love interest is Tobias. She and Marco have an almost flirtatious love/hate rivalry relationship.
