    Overview

Check vs. Mate is a chess game wherein the pieces battle each other, which can change the result of the move. The game is developed by Russian developer Targem Games and is published by TopWare Interactive.

The game was originally - and still is everywhere except the US - called Battle Vs Chess, but due to similarities to Battle Chess, Interplay took them to court, and won an injunction, causing them to have to change the name to Check Vs Mate.
