    Annoying

Like most side scrolling adventure games, Chubby Cherub follows a small being making his way through various neighborhoods. The look of the game is clean and the graphics are better than some. In particular the colors come across as probably the best aspect of the graphics. It is a very bright game and this makes the game fun to play.

You can walk or fly with the latter being dependant on the power bar at the top of the screen. Certain items refill portions of the bar and even without you can fly for a long time. Chubby Cherub follows the standard of having things you collect merely for points, driving the focus on attaining a high score. Candy, Diamonds, and variations of either constitute the main bevy of items attained.

It appears that the hero of this game is either retrieving lost items or is in some way delivering these items for the children. About halfway through each stage the game prevents forward progress while you complete some task that causes the item to appear. After you pick up the item the game again allows forward progress.

You can get a weapon, albeit a strange one. Certain items cause you to gain the ability (temporarily) of shooting hearts at your enemies. While this is an interesting choice, the strangest thing is the only enemy affected by the cardiac projectile are the dogs. Early on this seems like a good weapon, but as the game progresses dogs are seen less and less. Dogs are seen so much less, that eventually the weapon becomes essentially useless.

It isn't one of the classics that can be played all the time, but for a side scroller it isn't bad. It can be played for a couple of hours before it really becomes so annoying you want to throw the cartridge across the room.
