    Great Action Adventure RPG

There are many great games on the NES, but few of them can still feel as up to date as Crystalis. Crystalis is an Action RPG, much like The Illusion of Gaia or The Secret of Mana. This game felt like it was ahead of its time a bit, wich may contribute to its lasting appeal. Though they may not look so great to day, the graphics are very good by NES standards. The gameplay is the high point of this game. Unlike most RPGs of the 8-bit and 16-bit days, Crystalis is full of action. You controle an unknown hero who must save the world after the Apocalypse in the mid 90's (hey, it's an old game). You fight much like you do in the first Zelda, but you can leavel up and become more powerful like in a RPG. Also you find 4 differant elemental swords on your journey that help you out. Many of the enemy's have a weakness to at least one of these swords, and all of them can be powered up to shoot a blast of energy that resembles the weapons element. Also each of these swords can be upgraded twice, making them more effective in combat. Besides the swords you can also gain assorted magics and items that are useful both in and out of combat. All in all, Crystalis is a game any NES fan must play.

This was a 2D, top-down view, action-RPG similar to The Legend of Zelda in it's gameplay style. However, I feel that it was superior to the original Legend of Zelda in every way. I'm sure many people feel differently, but that's my opinion.Crystalis follows the adventure of a warrior sent from the future. He is sent back in time to stop an...
