Damned

I got this game early into its "early access" stage about 2-3 years ago, maybe more. The servers were never slamming with activity but since then its pretty much dead now that so many other games have entered into this genre (1v4+ survival horror). The closest direct analog to this game is Dead Realms and I think its staying active enough.

Basically one person plays the "spirit" and there are several different types with each one having its own unique look, abilities, pros, and cons. I found the variety to be plenty and each offered unique ways to have fun and freak the hell out of the players.

The players are all basically the same just with different skins. This is the weakest part of the game but I can't be too hard on it because it was so early in the genre's start. All the players are trying to do is escape and that boils down to searching rooms, drawers, cabinets, and shelves for batteries (for your flashlight) or for a key that will open random doors that are locked and keeping you from the exit. While this can build tensions because there are ZERO hints as to what door the key works for its a constant back and forth but not in a way I enjoyed. A little bit of something, like text on the key, would have been nice to at least know what type of room the key opens (pantry, restroom, exit, etc).

The graphics are, frankly, very rough. They never got in my way and it offered some charm but if you're looking for decent looking games in this genre there are a ton, including Dead Realms (which has, admittedly, a more cartoonish in its look). The sound design is the same; its enough to get by and the jump scare noises are fine.

I liked this game but BUYER BEWARE...if you aren't buying this with a group of friends you likely will not find people to play with as the servers are practically lifeless (pun intended). You may luck out and find someone to play with but that didn't seem to be the case for me.
