From some of the forums I've read it looks like they are.

I have no history with the series but I am curious.

    I have mixed emotions.
It's cool that they're finally doing it but at the same time, I'm not totally sure the game's style and 'tude works today.

Guess we'll see, gameplay always has the ability to trump all other factors.

Yeah it should have been another FPS or TPS instead.

I would say no, but as far as I can tell, the cars in new Twisted Metal are more incidental than anything. The gameplay/design seems to have more in common with Team Fortress, with class-based big-map mission objective matches. Only, you're in a car. On paper, that sounds kinda awesome, and while the Twisted Metal 'tude is kinda steeped in 90s edge-cool, there is something about the Warriors style factions that dress up in goofy costumes that appeals to me. I'm just kinda curious to see if the factions themselves are any differnet, or if TF2 style they're just palette swaps in essence.

Also, David Jaffe is a bold-faced liar. And I love him for it.
