David was born on April 16, 1983, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He made his first text-based games in QBasic on a 386 when he was 12. However, he did not pursue game development until 2011; prior to that, he was an amateur writer for enthusiast gaming press sites like PSNStores and GameCrashers.

In March of 2011, David discovered the game development community within Toronto and decided that making games is what he wanted to do. He spent seven months at Untold Entertainment, learning from accomplished developer Ryan Henson Creighton. He made his first six games by participating in events like Ludum Dare, the Global Game Jam, and the Toronto Game Jam. He was introduce to Twine by Christine Love and began creating Interactive Fictions, starting with a retelling of his journey into game development. His first commercial release is I Get This Call Every Day, which he self-published through his website.
