Issues as contagious as a deadly zombie bite 6

You remember that trailer, right? The one that told the harrowing story of a small family torn apart by a fleshthirsty zombie infestation. The one with the slick editing, beautiful music, memorable imagery and emotional resonance we so rarely see in video games. The one that took the internet by storm and re-introduced us all to Dead Island; the zombie game that might just pull at the heartstrings, offering more than just a comical bash of undead slaying. Well you can forget all about that trail...

RPG-Lite, Heavy Zombie Blood, not too much more. 0

Video Review More often than not if a game has some truly fun gameplay and mechanics they can usually carry the other aspects of the game – like story, shortage of features, and technical polish—that are lacking, Dead Island is one of those games. Developer Techland has borrowed from some other games and companies like Bethesda and Borderlands, but has put their own spin on the finalization of Dead Island to create a new IP that is simply great entertainment to take part in. And hacking...

    Vacation in Hell 0

Story:The four protagonists of the game whom you will be able to playThe story of Dead Island takes place on the beautiful tropical island of Banoi, just off the shore of New Guinea. While the island initially looks like a paradise resort, it quickly becomes Hell on Earth as it falls to zombie infestation. You play as one of four survivors, all of whom are given detailed backstories that are quickly forgotten about in the rest of the game. The main plot of the game revolves around you trying to ...

The Best Zombie Game Yet? 0

Dead Island is another in a recent trend of zombie games to come out in the 21 century. From movies to video games, zombies and vampires are competing for video media domination. In the video game world, zombies seem to be winning, while in the movie theaters and in home video playback, emotional, romantic, vampire movies and shows seem to run the ship. With quality zombie video games series like Resident Evil, and Left 4 Dead already around, does Dead Island stand up to the big boys of the genr...

Welcome to Banoi. You'll love your neighbors... 0

Dead Island breaths a bit of new life into the popular Zombie-game franchise by offering up plenty of exploration, intense combat, and seamless co-op that will keep you engaged for hours on end. The vacation from hell may be scary, but boy is it a lot of fun!If Dead Island first caught your attention with it's reversing trailer a few months back, then we're in the same boat. As the months up to launch passed, details given on the game emphasized three elements: Exploration, Character Progression...

While Numerous Bugs Hinder It, Dead Island Is Still A Good Time 8

At a glance, Dead Island doesn’t seem to be anything special. It looks like yet another first-person shooter with a survival horror theme, a mash up that gamers are all too familiar with. However, in reality, Dead Island is a very ambitious title with satisfying combat, RPG elements, and vast open landscapes to explore. While the core ideas usually come together to create a fulfilling experience, numerous flawed design decisions and bugs add up to make the vacation to this tropical hell fun, but...

    Go for the Head! 3

Dead Island is the newest game from developer Techland (The people behind the Call of Juarez series) and publisher Deep Silver (Nail'd, Risen, My Animal Centre just to name a few). To best describe Dead Island, I'd have to say it's most like Fallout 3 and Borderlands (Which I'm sure you've heard countless times already). That is a good thing, since Fallout 3 and Borderlands are some of the best games I've played this generation. Add zombies into the mix, and this could be heavenly. Sadly, it isn...

Dead Island is a swell place to be if you're not dead 0

Zombies. Not the most original theme, but an intriguing one. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first heard about this game. A cross between the two big name franchises in the genre namely Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising probably. Both titles I am somewhat ‘meh’ for. What I wasn’t expecting however was a cross between Borderlands and, well, Dead Rising. You see, I loved Borderlands for some reason and to this day I am not sure why.Thinking back, I guess it has to do with the...

A slow descent into brain dead boredom. 0

Wow, this game is broken on many levels. Glitches and freezing are abound in this zombie game. Aside from decent melee combat, this is your typical MMO inspired open world game. My main problems with this game start after you leave the beach and go into the city. This game is unrelentingly difficult for the wrong reasons. Playing by myself I felt easily overwhelmed as the areas became smaller and smaller as the story progressed. I didn't like this game that much to be honest. I never got into it...

    Dead Island Review 0

Dead Island is finally the RPG that every zombie slayer fan has been waiting for: a beautiful open world game, with an intriguing story and a fluid combat system. Guts, gore, bones and blood will all be spilled on the Island of Banoi today. Lets just hope that it isn’t yours. The game is bloody and violent without reason and puts off a vibe that will make you feel like the last person on earth if you dare to venture alone! The mastermind behind the birth of another possible triple A franchise is...

If you love killing zombies, this is the game for you. You're on the Island of Banoi and suddenly you are in troubl,e: you find yourself surrounded by zombies and you must do anything to survive. You can change, upgrade or modify different weapons. The story is a little complicated, but whatever you do you get to the end. In order to do that you've got to fight your way through hordes of zombies. three thirds of the game you won't have the opportunity to use weapons till the end. Zombies are re...

I have to admit I am big fan of all things Zombie, so the general idea behind dead Island immediately appealed to me, deserted on a holiday island that has been hit by a Zombie Virus ? Sign me up ! I have spent almost 200 hours in Left 4 Dead, so I am no stranger to facing hordes of undead. The game looks good, although it could have been released a few years ago, the engine seems outdateded but what it does, it does good. It is not as much the textures or visual style that is interesting (it's n...

A flawed, yet fun, Apocalypse 0

Dead Island, Techland's long awaited zombie game, finally made a big splash early this year with a CG trailer that got people enthralled - a beautiful, touching take on the tried and tested Zombie Apocalypse genre grabbed gamers attention. Whilst the final product doesn't succeed in delivering that emotional punch many expected from this initial trailer, Dead Island manages - on the whole - to overcome several buggy issues to deliver an open world RPG experience that is incredibly satisfying.   ...

If you're prepared to put in time, there is fun to be had here. 0

Dead Island is a fine example of a game that fails to really capitalise on its concept, there are great ideas present in the game but they are held back by the sheer volume of small annoyances that plague it from start to finish. There is certainly fun to be had throughout the game, but it feels afraid to let you have too much fun at once and puts frustrating obstacles in your way to hinder all the enjoyment.   There is a great concept behind Dead Island, a holiday island resort becomes the v...

    perfect blend 0

I've been long on the hunt for the addictive game that would potentially last longer than 2 weeks before burning me out, and alas! I found it! Recently I've been diving more and more into the open world RPG's, such as Oblivion and Fallout, and I've always been bummed with the combat and repetition of task after task in the same basic environment. Well not to say the environment changes all that much here, but the combat is ridiculously addictive, even though it's the same basic enemy over and ov...

    Zambies! 0

Dead island, at long last I got to play this after hearing about it years ago, and it didn't disappoint!First I'd like to point out a few things that stand out for me, both good and bad.The combat is simply one of the best things about it, not very often we get a First person Melee-based game, add zombies and you get a pretty awesome system, from not being able to see around yourself. And having a point of view close up of zeds head exploding or the look on his face as he loses an arm. Very sati...

Zombies ARE back, Brad. At least for a moment... 0

Left for Borderlands. Good enough COOP. Decent loot management. Interesting environments. This game has these things. But if the repetitive combat was as shallow as it appears at first, a few bullet points wouldn't save it. This thing has some issues. Some bigger than others, and they're all made evident in the first half hour. Right away you might notice the clumsy (at first) interface, some not-quite-2011-pre-holiday graphics (don't play a stunner like Dead Space 2 prior like I did), and a co...

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed messing around grinding in the first portion of a game thanks to the addictive melee combat system & getting those pretty exp points to pop up!That you'll be spending most of your time doing as you slay zombies! on the beautiful paradise resort island known as Dead Island Zombie game were not really relevant till oddly Call of Duty World of War developed by Treyarch would bring usNazi Zombie Mode a 4 player cooperative mode that became it's own game i...

    A Fantastic Disaster 0

Dead island is by no means a good looking game. It gets the job done with good skin modeling on the enemies with body parts falling apart in semi-realistic ways, if you wail on a guys arm with a baseball bat it's gonna break the arm unless it kills him first. And the exterior environment does give the feeling that not only is this place big, but it is a resort with a town for the workers and such. Though to be picky the human characters are what the problem. They keep the same sheen the zombies ...

    Dead Island Review 0

Let’s cut the crap and get straight to the point. Dead island is a game that will likely divide the masses. Fans of the RPG genre should at least take it for a spin. Those familiar with the Fallout games will find something vaguely familiar, even if they can’t quite put their finger on what that something is. There will be those that find a level of charm and intensity within the world that at times can be truly unique. Unfortunately though, this game is not for everyone, and will annoy as many ...

Gorgeous remaster and tech issues fixed - welcome back to Banoi, folks! 0

Dead Island: Definitive Edition is a remaster of the original 2011 multi-platform game bundled together with the downloadable content and is a much cleaner, improved version of the game - making it the ideal way to experience bludgeoning the undead in a tropical paradise.Developed by Polish studio, Techland and published by Deep Silver in 2016, the game is a first-person open-world survival/action horror with a focus on melee combat and can be played with up to four players cooperatively online....

Dead Island (or more like 7/10 Island?) 0

Dead Island, though announced back in the age of Red Rings and COD4, came to prominence only recently, when a moving, original CGI trailer was released. This led many viewers to expect an emotive, compelling zombie game, one that focused on story and character instead of walking corpses. It's also for this reason many critics of Dead Island feel let down, although if they base their expectations of a game purely on the CGI bits then I hate to think how perpetually disappointing the Final Fantasy...

Killing Zeds and slurping energy drinks 0

Loving it so far after the patches. There is some jankiness with movement but that will likely be fixed with upcoming patches, as long as the developer continues supporting it. The gameplay has been solid and reminds me of all the good aspects of Borderlands combined with a bit of Fallout 3 and Left4Dead.Combat is tight, visceral and when playing single-player there's this feeling of dread that not too many games get right. Multiplayer is awesome when playing with one or two players. The underlyin...

    Milk it. 0

Dead Island is a long game with a short list of variety. In Dead Island you get to choose from a shallow list of shitty characters that are so bad you don't actually want to pick any of them. But that doesn't pose a real problem as the story in this game is boring, predictable and forgettable. The plain and simple zombie bashing is all that holds this game together. If smashing, bashing or stomping countless zombies into bits while being rewarded with the sounds of wet meat through a wood chipper...

Loaded with problems but fun 0

When I first heard about Dead island I thought it sounded new and fun, then I hear that it is from the makers of Call of Juarez: The Cartel. Check out thisreview to see to see how bad the game is. Lucky Dead island doesn't have as many problems with it then The Cartel does. You play as one of four people who is vacationing on the island, the happen out break happens and you are knocked out. You awake and find out that you are immune to the virus and is sent out to people others. The missions at ...

Grinding meat has never been so entertaining 0

Dead Island is an open world, melee focused, zombie themed game that has completely caught me off guard. The game is a really weird hybrid and plays very different from what one would expect by watching footage of the game.Dead Island might look like simple survival game at first but underneath all the running away from zombies and bashing in skulls are dice throws. The game is heavily driven by a set of underlying RPG mechanics that most people will know from games like Diablo, Sacred or even r...

Finally, A zombie game that is Free Roam. Love this game. I love how you can customize weapons by using Mods.  However, Never was a huge fan of Grand Theft Auto and it kind of has a similar look about it. Its nice that you are able to run around. I thought the Islands were pretty big when I first saw them but they are actually very small which is kind of a disappointment. Also, I noticed that there are some similarities with the zombies from Left 4 Dead and in this game. I like how you can drive...

    My dead Island 0

After playing Dead Island on PC with an Xbox controller for about twenty-five hours Ican really appreciate the work that was put in designing the world and the Ass-holes populating it.It is a surprisingly long game and a nice change of scenery for the zombie apocalypse. However it as its flaws, mainly its super repetitive combat the lack of properinteractions with objects in the world (like moving luggage bags and garbagecans for example) and fairly poor sound. It is worth the look but I would rec...
