The forthcoming Dead Rising 2: Case West does require purchase of the full game, and is again 360-exclusive.

Eurogamer has announced that unlike Case Zero, Case West won't be a stand-alone product. I actually think this is a load of shit. With the console versions being plagued with framerate and loading issues I was going to grab the PC version which eliminates those problems(cheaper as well). So not only can I not play Case West on PC but I can't even play it on 360 unless I buy a second copy of the game! What a joke. Capcom really dropped the ball on this one.

Why would you want to play something that takes place after the events of the game without having to play said game anyway?

I'll play the game. Not on 360 though. So basically if you don't have a 360 you can't play it. If you do have a 360 but prefer to buy the full version on PC or PS3, you're screwed as well.

The first game was 360 exclusive so it might have to do with Capcom honoring that or something? Sounds stupid, I don't know.

"Capcom honoring that" probably translates into "Microsoft paying Capcom to honor that" in the real world.

@Metal_Mills: Yeah no biggie either way for me. I figure with games like this that are really polarizing either you're not in for a penny, or in for a million. I don't know that's not a saying. Either way, what I've played with of Case Zero has been really good and I'm looking forward to the full game, and playing this after that. And Yes I play on the 360 and yes, its a choice of convenience and no that does not bother me.

That's bad news. I actually liked the mini game that was case zero and was looking forward to Case West, but I am not sure I'll buy the full game.

Fine, not buying it then.

I liked the "compact" nature of Case Zero and I can't be bothered to play the full DR2 at this point. I'd be willing to play another short episode for cheap, however. Guess that's off the table now.

I hate CAPCOM's excuse being that they are ''repaying'' all the fans of the original who bought it on the 360, as a little bonus for helping their new IP become a success. So, what? The money and support put towards the sequel on the PS3 doesn't matter? Exclusive games can be a real hex but one I can look past; exclusive DLC on the other hand for multiplatform games is absolute BS.

They're having it require the full game no doubt so people don't just skip the whole game altogether and get their fill from Case Zero and West. =/

capcom likes helping out the loosing console. it's doing great in most regions but is bombing in japan, so they make a lot of exclusive content for it.

Beginning to wonder just wtf is happening with this. They release its debut teaser trailer before the full game is even released, alluding to CW's release being set only sometime after DR2, and over a month after DR2's release and there's been virtually no word on anything.

The exclusivity is what it is, I woulda thought we'd all have seen enough by now to know how this stuff works, but I digress.

I"ll be curious to see how this decision pans out for them. I can't really see many people buying the full game for the sake of getting Case: West, while I can totally see them selling a lot fewer copies of Case: West by making the full game a requirement.
