    Dead Late 0

It’s been a while since the game first hit the shelves but due to the plethora of games that graced our fine retail establishments this year I have taken perhaps a bit too long to getting round to Visceral Games space age horror.Although I was never a big fan of the first game the sequel struck me as a whole new monster. There are more than a few similarities between the two but this just felt better. I don’t know whether or not it was the controls or just the general atmosphere of the game but ...

Dead Space 2 Review: No one can hear you scream 0

The first game of 2011 which I have played, I was hoping for a good start to the gaming year, and I was not disappointed.  I was worried when EA were talking up the introduction of multiplayer and of making the game action orientated. Having been a huge fan of the isolation and dread  filled atmosphere of the first game, I feared that it would become an action game without atmosphere. While Dead Space 2 is much more action orientated than Dead Space, and it has lost that sense of dread, it has a...

    Welcome to the show. 0

The first Dead Space was an excellent game. It modernized and revitalized a slowly decaying genre and felt completely fresh despite it's obvious homages to other similar works. It was also a much more solitary experience and an overall "scarier" game. Was it better though? As a survival horror game; absolutely. Solely as a game on the otherhand, I am quite confident in saying that Dead Space 2 is a big step up from its predecessor. One of the strongest points of this sequel is how strong its star...

Dead Space 2, an actual sequel to Dead Space 1, like, for real! 0

Believe the hype! Dead Space 2 is everything you could want and expect from a sequel. And then there's more! To date, this is the single scariest/goriest game I have ever played on a console. (Silent Hill, you used to be the victor but come on, it's 2011 and sometimes, you just gotta move on.) (I still say the original Dead Space is the scariest game I have ever played though, but since this is part of the same universe, it still counts!) What makes it scary though? How about: the music, the cree...

Yo you like Dead Space 1? 0

Then you should really get this.  Dont have much to add on top of what as already said.  Its a fuckin awesome game.  My only gripes with this title when compared to the first one was the lack of boss battles.   The as a whole is still a fantastic title with enough changes and improvements to make this a new experience of dead space rather than a expansion pack.  PLUS getting a copy of Dead Space extraction in the Limited PS3 version is great.  Its a ton of fun with or without a move controller (...

    Dead Space 2 0

Rawr. The first Dead Space holds the spot as my favorite survival horror game ever, and maybe my favorite horror anything. I remember being at home when I played it for over 8hrs straight, and for about 3 of those hours I was home alone in the dark. I was pretty freaked out at that time, always doing a check around the house during tense parts. Looking back on it now, almost 3yrs later, I laugh at that moment. With the arrival of Dead Space 2, I think it's very safe to say that...

And the necromorphs still sound angry grog fuelled pirates... 0

In space, as the saying goes, no one can hear you scream. This is not specifically true in regards to the original Dead Space of course. Placed in control of Isaac Clarke, the player would have unquestionably heard the engineer’s muffled screams of anguish as he was unwittingly bashed around by a particularly grotesque parasitic alien menace within the claustrophobic industrial confines of the USG Ishimura. First released around Halloween in 2008, Dead Space reinvigorated the survival h...

Psychological Horror, definition in everyway 0

Editors Note: This review is singularly focused on the single-player element of Dead Space 2 and does not account for any of the multiplayer within the game. Few times in my gaming career have I ever felt that a game truly mastered the art of psychological horror. A foreboding sense that not only is your player character losing their mind, but so are you. In Dead Space 2 this feeling is compounded. From the horrific scene of violence, to the disturbing voices in your head Dead Space 2 not onl...

A Horror Game Minus The Horror 0

Dead Space 2 is not a horror game. Sure, the enemies are gooey and gross, the lighting is dim, and the ammo is scarce. But Silent Hill 2 (or even the first Dead Space) this is not. In EA and Visceral's sequel, jump scares and pulse-pounding action are the order of the day. The sense of foreboding that the original game did so well, that calm-before-the-storm feeling that made the hairs on your arms stand on end, is rarely, if ever utilized. And while a shrieking monster bursting from the wall wh...

The name of the game is tension 0

Ive put about 7 hours into Dead Space 2 so far and I've loved every second of it.  Im glad they moved the game to a setting that allows a larger variety in level design.  The first game was really good but everything looked the same which is the reason I never beat it.  I never felt like I was going anywhere.  Like I said that isnt an issue in Dead Space 2.  There are plenty of areas to the game and all of them have their own unique look.  Some of the missions or chapters require you to travers...

    Great Follow Up 0

One of EA's biggest IP's in several years is back....but the founder of the studio that made it is not, opting to go make Call of Duty games for Activision (a move he will likely regret, based on history). Does this loss doom a promising franchise? As of now, Dead Space 2 does "survival horror" better than long-term dominator of the genre, Resident Evil, does. Dead Space, more than anything else, presents an incredibly creepy atmosphere. You know something really bad happened and is like...

Dead Space 2 surpasses the original in every way. 0

AWESOME game. The first Dead Space was my 2008 GOTY and Dead Space 2 doesn't disappoint. I loved it so much that I had a mega marathon where I played from Chapter 5 to the end in one day. It's that damn good. The gameplay is much improved over the first game and everything seems faster. Isaac moves faster, aims faster and stomps faster. Isaac is less of a tank and feels more like a fighter which makes sense after the first game. Many of DS1's weapons return but most of them feature new alt fire...

    Visceral with a voice. 0

In 2008, EA’s initiative to focus on new and original IPs was put to the test with the science fiction survival horror romp known as ‘Dead Space’.The game was an enormous success and EA had a franchise in their hands. EA has since brought their dedication of making Dead Space part of a bigger picture as a franchise with it’s sequel and has payed off immensely with it’s expanded lore, gameplay and by simply giving fans what they wanted - More Dead Space.   The original’s setting, An abandone...

Your Mom Should Love Dead Space 2 0

Dead Space 2Visceral Games re-launches the Dead Space franchise as Isaac Clarke returns to battle the Necromorph scourge, but can the second outing top the frightening success of the first? The original Dead Space was somewhat of a surprise hit so the level of expectation for the sequel is undoubtedly high, and thankfully Visceral Games manages to deliver on almost all accounts. The story picks up three years after the conclusion of the first game and our old friends the Necromorphs are at it ag...

    Dead Space 2 0

Dead Space 2 The team at EA's Visceral Games ramp up the action without straying too far from the scares for this breathtaking sequel to their 2008 horror shooter.  Dead Space 2 When Dead Space first arrived on the scene in 2008, it caught a lot of people by surprise. It's fair to say that there really wasn't much new about it, what with concepts borrowed from a number of iconic game and film franchises, and yet Visceral Games blended all those known elements together to produce a sli...

Dead Space 2 Improves on an Already Classic Original 0

The original Dead Space was a classic with a few minor issues. If you disagree with that assessment then you probably want to read another review because that is my starting point when evaluating Dead Space 2. The issues with the original were minor but noticeable, mainly the environments got repetitive and the PC version has some annoyances. Dead Space 2 does away with both these complaints and on top of that adds some new gameplay elements which really push it into 5-star territory....

Isaac Clark gets it done... again (with video review) 0

Sleeper hits like the original Dead Space are proof that the horror genre, inadvisably, is undead. Complete with satisfying shooting, space curb-stomps and legitimate scary moments, Dead Space 2 is more of the same with some augmentations. It isn't a reinvention of the wheel, but the original Dead Space formula was already a sound enough one, which didn't require many tweaks to its already commendable horror/shooter setup. Throw in some new competitive online action, and there's something...

Dead Space 2: Severed Review 0

Dead Space 2 is a fantastic game; it’s intense, fun, and has an intriguing story compelling you to continue progressing through the doomed Titan Space Station.  So, when Visceral blessed me with the ability to play some more single player Dead Space 2 goodness, I couldn’t refuse.Severed (which is now available for purchase on XBOX 360 for 560 MSP and on PS3 for $6.99) features two single player chapters about Dead Space: Extraction survivors Gabe Weller and Lexine Murdoch (who is now Lexine Well...

An ugly, disturbing, and visceral experience 0

Dead Space 2 is a game that progresses with relentless pacing, and one that demands your attention. It is an extremely dirty and visceral (pun completely intended) experience. "The Sprawl" (an allusion to the setting of William Gibson's Sprawl Trilogy) is a disgusting place, teaming with denizens of "The Marker", an object of supernatural and mysterious origins. And like Gibson's novels, Visceral has married biology and technology into a truly dystopian vision of potential futures for mankind. ...

Now with 100% More Necromorphs 0

I thoroughly enjoyed the first Dead Space. Guiding the unassuming hero, Issac Clarke, through his travails aboard the derelict, planet-cracking spaceship, the U.S.G. Ishimura, was both an intriguing and terrifying experience. So it's no surprise that it received a sequel.Dead Space 2 returns Issac to some new territory; chiefly an orbiting space station (called the Sprawl) where now, instead of wandering the vacuous corridors in search of answers to what happened to a decimated crew, he must dis...
