Christ. I haven't done a blog for about three weeks, so why not make my newest one a bowling update. A lot has happened since my last update, hell I don't even remember when my last one was. High School bowling has started and my coach named me the team captain. This is the first year he has really had a chance to pick a team captain. The last two seniors we have had were both terrible and cocky assholes. So either way I'm happy. My average is up to 200 up, well close to it about 195 in each of my two leagues. Though I have been doing terrible here lately, just terrible ball reaction. I've been throwing my Virtual Gravity and have not been doing to well with it. Lately though I've started throwing my Hy-Road, if you can't tell by now I really like Storm products. That's definitely giving me the hook I need, but at times it's just too much. And that's how most of my equipment has been for me lately, it seems when I'm bowling bad, that's when they decide to hook. Though despite my struggles, I have bowled my first ever 700 series with a 729. Which I found out last week, that that score tied the youth series record for my local center. Which is really cool. I'm not to sure when our first match is, but I've heard it's at least by November 14th. So I'm really looking forward to doing well this year, I'd like to go to at least Semi - State and I feel like I have a great shot at beating the defending state champ (he's in our conference). Expecta update by the time of our first match.

Thanks for reading,

Alright, first off by wastes I mean The Capital Wasteland of Fallout 3, as you can tell from the awesome banner. I ordered the special edition Fallout 3 from Amazon last week and it came in I think.... Wednesday? can't remember. Anyway, this isn't my first time with Fallout 3, I have played it twice before. The first time I just did the story, very little side stuff or exploring, next time I played it I did every side quest and spent over 100hrs on it. So I figured hey, why not share my third play though with the people of Giant Bomb? So as my Government teacher would say, "Sit back, relax, open up a can of Diet Cola with crinkly ice" and enjoy.

Adventures

Quests

It wouldn't be Fallout 3 without the wide open world. I was planing on doing this on Tuesday, but I have done so much I figured to just go ahead and do this now. The game starts you out in Vault 101, it's where you're born and learn basic things like how to use V.A.T.S and
such. From the very beginning I played as a good character, I just can't play as a bad one. One of the first missions you can do is help Butch with his mom getting attacked by radroaches, of course I helped and gained Butches awesome Tunnel Snakes jacket. Before leaving you have to talk to the Overseer, you can either murder him-Evil or you can talk it out-Good. I talked it out to get the good Karma. I'm not really a big fan of the Vault stuff in the game, it doesn't seem to work well. When you leave the Vault you will level up. I suggest you put a good amount into you're explosions skill. This will help greatly when you get to Megaton, Megaton is the first major town you will run into. It's built around a bomb. The bomb is where the explosions skill comes in. One of the side missions in the game "Power of the Atom" is located in Megaton. A 25 or higher explosion skill will allow you to defuse the bomb and make the place safe. I suggest
you do this first, it give you a home which is very useful. The second mission I would do, is the Galaxy News Radio one. In the story quest it takes you to GNR ( Galaxy News Radio), there you will meet Three Dog. He will give you info on your dad, but also give you the quest Galaxy News Radio. This mission I think is pretty important. See I really like listening to the radio in the game. When you exist the Vault, in the GNR spot you will hear mostly static. In Galaxy News Radio quest you will fix a dish that will spread GNR across the Wastes. Now I did it because I like the radio, you don't have to do it. I also did my favorite quest "Blood Ties". This deals with cannibalism, in the town of Arefu you will find the West family dead, blood drained and their son missing. This will force you to go find them, when you do you will meet with Vance. Vance is the
leader of the Family. Ian (the West's son) is there because he can't control his hunger for flesh. All you have to do is some good speech and show him the letter from his sister Lucy. That will make him come home. Now don't kill the Family. This will not please the Arefu people. But if you do you get some awesome gear.

Other Adventures

For the most part I haven't done much wandering. Which is terrible! For some reason I told myself I had to do those quests listed above, first. I've tried to stay south on the map to stay away from the really tough enemies for now. I'm only a level 8 so I'm not that high up there. Next blog I'll try to fill this one up more then the Quests part. I need to start wandering!

Conclusion

Well there's the end of this one. Sorry if this isn't perfect, it's just the first one. I'll try to do one next week maybe. I've found out if you wait too tong then you have to write to much. So part 1 is in the bag. Please give input, this blog could be better.

Total time of play:

8hrs

Next week I'm going to be starting a weekly or bi-daily blog about my time in The Wastes. Of course by Wastes I mean the Fallout 3 Wastes. There will be spoilers in every blog but I will post a warning before each blog, so there should be no worry about that. I will also be including a blog of Fallout and Fallout 2 in there as well, it won't be as long but I figured some people might like to know more about Fallout. I will try to include everything I did while playing Fallout 3, Fallout and Fallout 2. Here are some of the things I'm going to try to include in each and every blog entry:

  • New places and people I met
  • New guns and weapons I have acquired
  • Quest I started and it's result
  • My current Karma level
  • Gear I'm wearing
  • And more...

I'm still a little dry in some places, like title and if I should post them in the forums. So to my GB friends,

PLEASE GIVE ME FEED BACK ON WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN THIS BLOG, THE TWO THINGS I JUST MENTIONED TOO. I want to make this the best blog I can, I still have a couple of days til they come in. Thanks guys :)

Intro

I had a Xbox 360 for most of this year and all of last year. I recently sold the system to get a PS3. In doing so I sold my most beloved
YES! How awesome is that.

game of all time, Fallout 3. The experience is unlike anything I have ever played, I have never spent eight hours doing nothing in a game before until I played Fallout 3. With the Game of the Year Edition coming out in a couple of weeks, it has sparked my interest in the game again. Not saying that I ever lost interest, I have wanted to play that game for about four months. I have started working again and getting some good sized checks so I decided to spend some money on the Fallout 3: Special Edition Pack, yes I'm way behind on that but I don't care. It's only 80 bucks on Amazon and I have a crisp $100 bill in my wallet that needs to be spent.

Prepare for the Future, or die.
Prepare for the Future, or die.
I put in about 100+ hours into the game, not really a lot when you consider that some people probably spent four times that. I am no where close to finding everything in the game and I really want to. I set high goals. Something that I loved about this game was just walking around The Wastes and have my radio on (yes I love the damn radio), with gun and hand might I add. Which I really think is the appeal of the game, not just for me but for the many others that have played the game. I never played Oblivion so I really didn't know games that give you that big of an area to mess around with. There's something about shooting some Raiders and have Beneke's "A Wonderful Guy" playing in the background that makes it so much fun. I'm a HUGE fan of this game, it's probably the only game that I can say I know a shit load
Boys grab your guns, it's all in good fun.

about. I know about the towns, people, guns, stories, side missions, almost every piece of dialog with characters, what enemies are weak to what. I feel like I know this game inside and out, and I have never felt that way about any game. I'm thinking about getting the original two Fallout games, Fallout and Fallout 2 if I can find them.

Conclusion

This is just a little sum up of how much I love this game, the game of Fallout 3. OXM rated this game at the 7th best game of all time, and I don't doubt them one bit. It's my favorite game of all time and that won't ever change. I'm extremely excited for Fallout: New Vegas just to see how the expand the story of Fallout. I'll post a blog when I get the Special Edition Pack in the mail and talk about it. Also each week or every couple of days I will do a update blog on Fallout 3. In there I will talk about what quests I did, how they went, what I fought etc just a overall summary. Let me know what you all think of this.
