Demon's Souls Servers Extended to 2012

Just as the thread title says.  So if you still need help getting past flamelurker, there's no longer a need to rush like mad to get it done by the end of the month.

That's... surprising. Figured they'd drop 'em in favour for Dark Souls. Then again they didn't specify how long into 2012 they'll keep 'em up.

@Turambar: I've already seen it, but a link to the news source would help/.
I don't really care, since after Dark Souls releases I probably won't be touching Demon's Souls again, but it's nice for those who will want to play Demon's Souls even after October 4th.

I don't think Atlus has any vested interest in giving way to Namco Bandai's title instead of their own.

I already got all my character's stats to 99 so I don't give a shit.

Yo, nothing stops the greatest game that was ever made! For me I'll already be playing Dark Souls but this is good for people who haven't played it yet.

As someone who desperately wishes they had the means to play Demon Souls, its good to hear it!

This is good to hear. I bought Demon's Souls a couple months ago and have not had time to go back to it. I was afraid the servers were going to be shut down but now I don't feel stressed out to start playing right away.

I won't be playing Demon Souls when Dark Souls comes out but it's still good news for those who will be playing ;)

Good news, no doubt. When they eventually do go down, is that going to affect the Old Monk fight?

@fenixREVOLUTION: As I understand it, myself not having seen that fight yet, it uses an NPC Black Phantom in Offline mode. so mostly no, I guess.

The release of Dark Souls made me want to give Demon's Souls a try. It's smart of them to leave the servers up, as a form of marketing to people who may not want to shell out 60 bucks for a game with Dark Souls' reputation.

@Mnemoidian: Well that is good news. Thanks.

That's cool. I suspect with the new one out some people have gone back to it and others just got into it (it does happen) so that may be why they extended it a bit. Just a guess though.

@fenixREVOLUTION: You do, however, get a unique item if you are summoned as the phantom for that boss fight and manage to win. That is the only thing I could see being permanently locked out if the servers were down.

@WizardShazam: Yeah, that could be a bummer, but I'm sure I'd live.

Looks like they are also changing the world tendency pure white till October 17, then pure black for the rest of the month because it is the second anniversary. And i think you can still get the old monks item by beating him, but in not 100% sure about that.

Good to hear, I've still barely started Demon's Souls. It's ridiculous even to be considering shutting down game servers after only 2 years. Sure, EA do it, but that doesn't mean it's acceptable. Especially Demon's Souls can't be all that heavy on bandwidth usage. I don't see there being a sequel as a valid reason to shut down the servers.

Good to hear, but I am having issues invading/helping other players.
