One of the most deep and fun games you'll ever play

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a prequel to the critically acclaimed original Deus Ex and the first game in the series since 2003's Invisible War. Set in the near future, Human Revolution takes place in a world where human augmentation is beginning to become very popular and create some controversy. Some people want restrictions on it or to have it banned completely and others support this technology. The story follows Adam Jensen on his quest to find out who was responsible for an attack on Sarif Industries, a biotechnology company that he is in charge of security for.

Deus Ex features numerous different types of gameplay elements rolled into one. And when you usually hear something like that it leads to a game that does a lot of things decent to bad and not much good. Fortunately, this is not the case with Human Revolution, as this game is tons of fun and completely nails all the gameplay elements it incorporates. At its core, the game is an RPG. You talk to different characters to gain information and go on missions and talk to other people on your journey and do side-missions. The game features a dialogue system that is sort of like L.A. Noire's in the sense that what you say to them could change how they react and alter what happens next. While the voice acting is sometimes questionable and Jensen's Clint Eastwood voice does tend to get a little annoying, the dialogue in the game is mostly well done and enjoyable. Another big RPG element featured in Human Revolution is looting. You can search office drawers, closets, dead bodies and other places to find all sorts of goodies like money, ammo, pocket secretaries containing security codes and other stuff. You have a Resident Evil style inventory system where you only have a certain amount of space to store all your stuff and bigger items like sniper rifles take up more space than pistol ammo and stuff like that.

The game hypes itself up about giving you a lot of ways to go about playing the game. And while you do have a lot of ways to do things, it's pretty much gonna come down to shooting or sneaking your way through everything. The game has a hacking minigame that is aggravating at first but gets pretty fun once you get the hang of it and while this hacking can affect the gameplay sometimes (like hacking a robot turret thing to shoot your enemies), for the most part you will still need to either shoot or sneak your way around enemies to proceed. The shooting in the game is a ton of fun and the game offers a few different weapons and upgrades that you can get for each weapon. They don't overwhelm you with too many weapons that all feel the same like Call of Duty and Borderlands and it's a good thing that for the most part they stick to a standard group of weapons (with some unique stuff mixed in). Stealth is another big part of the game and it works great with the fantastic cover system that the game provides. While it's no Gears of War cover system, it still works a lot better than many other cover systems out there and really helps out when you're sneaking around enemies or avoiding cameras or turrets. Throughout the game you earn experience points and once your experience bar fills up you earn a Praxis point which is used to upgrade your augmentations. You can do anything from improving your hacking, decreasing or stopping recoil when you shoot, being able to temporarily go invisible or do other fun stuff.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is an incredible game from top to bottom. The story, which is enhanced with beautiful CGI cutscenes, enjoyable dialogue and eBooks scattered throughout the world that provide extra info on this interesting universe, is fun to experience. Looting is incredibly fun, as is shooting, sneaking, hacking and exploring this beautiful world that features tons of stuff to do but never feels overwhelming because it's all fit in areas that aren't too big. Whether you're a fan of role-playing games, shooters or stealth games, you can't go wrong with the fantastic experience that is Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

      Doing a classic justice 0

I had very little experience with the Deus Ex franchise coming into Human Revolution, and yet I was more than a little skeptical about its effort to revive a nearly decade old franchise. Fortunately my fears were unfounded, as Deus Ex: Human Revolution stays true to what makes the franchise unique while also applying the proper updates to successfully drag it into the modern era. The result is pretty rad.Let’s get this out of the way first- Human Revolution has a laundry list of unfortunate blem...

Despite Some Rough Edges, This Revolution Is Worth Taking Part In 0

The original Deus Ex, released back in 2000, is considered by some to be one of the best RPG’s of the last generation. It offered a level of choice in how players accomplished their goals that was groundbreaking at the time, which allowed for a lot of flexibility in how it was played. The newly released prequel to the original game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, promises to maintain that level of choice while crafting it’s own identity and updating the gameplay for modern players. While some of its...
