    Doodle Jump

There's something I like about Doodle Jump that I can't quite put my finger on. It has an appeal that can't be matched by most iPhone games. The concept is easy enough; you're a alien guy who jumps on platforms and does some occasional shooting. While there isn't much depth there, the .99 cent price easily makes up for that.

Doodle Jump's strengths would be a lot of games disadvantages, like its cutesy graphics, very simple gameplay, no story mode and a very small amount of extra content. But what Lima Sky did with what they had is pretty great. The alien you play as jumps automatically, no touching the screen to jump, and you try to make it higher and higher and watch your score go up as well. As you continue onward, you'll encounter some enemies. To attack them you can either jump on them, in classic platformer fashion, or you can shoot them by tapping on the screen. They both work pretty well expect for the shooting. sometimes your hand can get in the way of your site which leads to some cheap deaths. But this game is full of cheap deaths because while the controls are good they are pretty sensitive to your movements. Which can result in you missing a platform or power up.

Power ups are basically everywhere in Doodle Jump, they come in the form of a spring, jet pack, trampoline, 'copter hat and so on. The trampoline and spring are the most abundant in the game, you can find them very close together. It's the great power ups that help you more, but are also harder to find. Jet packs are the best I thought, they take up much faster then any of the others they also seem to last longer.  Doodle Jump also allows you to post your scores on Twitter and Facebook, these are cool but what they put are pretty corny. But the worldwide leaderboards are pretty niffty.

This was a short review, there isn't much to say about Doodle Jump. It is a very fun and addictive game, but the lack of content does drag down the overall product. But what can you expect for .99 cents? Not much, but Lima Sky has made a hell of a good game.

A simple game deserves a simple review:  Doodle Jump is the ideal micro-game: small price for a small game, aside from being a small game content wise, it can provide hours of entertainment as a simple time waster. Since you probably carry your iPhone or iPod touch with you most of the time, it's always within reach even when you are doing something incredibly boring, like waiting in line.  A hardcore casual game, Doodle Jump is nothing if not simply amusing, it won't replace Halo, but it'll suf...

Addictive and good value for money 0

On the iTunes store, the full title of Doodle Jump is “Doodle Jump – BE WARNED: Insanely Addictive!” After spending about 45 minutes with this game without realising it, I’m inclined to agree. The basic premise is simple: tilt the phone to move the main character, who jumps up and down constantly. You have to climb up platforms as high as you can, avoiding enemies (who you can shoot at by tapping the screen) and avoid falling below the bottom of the screen. Conveniently (or sometimes not...
