The buyback cost formula is 100+Level*Level*1.5+Time*15 according to the 6.66 changelog.
Not to mention that a 25 level character will lose a lot of money if he dies and add that to the buyback cost. It balances itself out. No need of hard caps. IIRC when you die at level 25 and yourself back you will be like -3k gold.@WinkLynx I don't believe so; pretty sure it's based solely off the level of the hero.
Can you pick up other people's items in DOTA 2? For example if I kill his courier or catch him at the secret shop buying something with an item on the ground, can I take his item?
I'm sure Pudge will get picked. Na'Vi have been known to use him well. Not sure if Tinker will show up though.
@phrosnite: If it works like DotA, you can pick up all items that are dropped and kill most of them (can't kill Divine Rapier). Only a few items can be used that don't belong to you (all consumables, Gem, Divine Rapier, Sobi Mask, Ring of Regen, Ring of Health, Perseverance, basically anything that can be shared with allies). Is that is the newest version 6.71? Last time I played was 6.20 and you could even kill the rapier. I've heard that in the new version you can pick up other people's items but you can destroy them.
Thinking of 6.2x brings back memories of Bristleback and Beastmaster's maphawk >_>.
@Kodo_Beast: Agreed! Really sad that Lion is a wardbitch in HoN, he's so much more fun when you play him as a fast-and-loose ganker.
Thanks for the information regarding buybacks.
Having never seen more than 5 minutes of DotA in action (my only MOBA experience being a year of LoL), I find watching Dota 2 to be fascinating. I have gone from being indifferent towards Dota 2 to being ridiculously excited for its release.

Come on two more heroes, they used forty-four heroes in the first day, two more to go!
Actually there are three more they didn't use (I did some digging with the URLs :) ).
GG.net needs to gank this morphling, stat. Otherwise he's going to rice them out of this tournament.
Nirvana.cn v Mineski actually ended up being pretty entertaining. Mirana's backdoor shenanigans at the end were priceless!
I disagree. Late game the heroes are so powerfull(unless you played like a noob) that destroying the towers is no problem. I've had games in which a hero backdoored our/their ancient.@phrosnite: Why? You have teleport scrolls, glyph of protection and towers / raxes (other than tier 1 towers) regenerate health at a massive rate if you attack them without AI-controlled creep support. It takes a lot of effort to backdoor successfully.
Backdoor is for pussies. There should be a rule that says clearly whether backdoors are allowed or not.
Backdoor is a sign of desperation. They fucked up in the last battle so they deserve to lose. As I said we need an offcial rule.Yo, if you're not carrying a TP, you deserve to lose buildings.
Also... wtf? Sooooooo many bad Sand Kings. The more matches I watch the more I"m convinced that those guys aren't "pros", they are just above average.
Games should be starting soon. For any people unfamiliar with the game who might be watching, here's a quick reference guide to the heroes and their abilities.

@Jokers_Wild: Haven't read through all the abilities for inconsistencies but that's a really nice reference guide. It even has the HoN equivalents listed!

I have a question... In which DotA version did they introduse that noob friendly smoke bomb item? Where people so f-ing bad at the game and couldn't gang players? 100 gold, 40 sec invis and you don't get revealed when you use a skill? lol wut? Who was left in charge with DotA balance? What a noob!
Also... Am I the only one who has choppy stream?
@Jokers_Wild said:I didn't expect M5 to wipe the floor with them so hard, usually that type of ownage is reserved for Dota pub :DHoping M5 wins this, but Mineski will definitely be tough to beat. Both lineups look really good.I guess you were wrong about the tough match... What an ownage. So many mistakes on MIneski's side.
I know nothing about this game, but that bait by ok.nv.int at the end there was incredible. Turned the whole thing around. From last-ditch defense to all-out offence in a couple of seconds.
Brilliant. I may just play this game when it comes out. Damn competitive gaming, why are you so godlike? I rarely play single-player games any more because they just can't match the excitement.
