Born Andre Young, Dre's rap career began as a member of World Class Wreckin' Cru. While a member of the Cru, he met and collaborated with Ice Cube for Eazy-E's record label. Dre, E, and Cube would go on to form N.W.A. along with DJ Yella and MC Ren. Dre left N.W.A. in 1991 and signed with Suge Knight's Death Row Records, and released his first album, The Chronic. Dre left Death Row in 1995 and formed his own label - Aftermath Entertainment. In 1998 Dre signed Eminem to Aftermath and was a producer on 3 songs for The Slim Shady LP which was released in 1999. Also in 1999 Dre released his second solo album, 2001. Dr. Dre has been working on what he claim's will be his final solo album, Detox, since 2002. There is still no release date, and Dr. Dre has recently announced another project; an instrumental album called The Planets, each song being named after a planet in the solar system.
Dr. Dre also has his own brand of high quality headphones, Beats By Dr. Dre, made by Monster.
