Sandal's true form is a 500 foot tall Envy Demon. It comes out when his mubari refuses to bring back the fetch stick.

Since the Chantry is basically just the Catholic church, it sounds like he's describing the Book of Revelation.  I doubt it's meant to hint at anything in an upcoming game.

This seems to be quite the topic on some of the ME forums.

Maybe it is just me but he is talking about Morrigan's child from the first game.  In witch hunt she took the kid into an alternate dimension to raise them and they have the soul of an old god, therefore... her kid literally will be a god in the flesh when it returns to thedas.  For those who didn't do the ritual with morrigan good for you, however, the default story you import in DA2 has it happening.
 
Sandal is obviously some kind of weird psycho uber mage though.  In DA:O he killed an entire wave of darkspawn by himself, he does it again in DA2, and later on he wipes out an entire unit of templars and abominations.

Oh he's not so bad. He just want some pie. Then again he did manage to turn an ogre into a large ice block so there's more to him than a "simple" dwarf. "

You know, I laughed my ass off in Origins when I came upon Sandal surrounded by a ton of dead darkspawn in Fort Drakon. It was a nice self-reference when they showed him in the Deep Roads in DA2 with the crystallized ogre. Then it just became overkill when you ran into him in the Gallows surrounded by a bunch of dead abominations and 2 pride demons...

Kill him now before it's too late!

Yes and No. He will be a mage companion but won't do anything but say "boom" and enemies die around him. And when in the Fade we'll see the "real" Sandal, not hindered by his "simple" mind in the living flesh. "

Ah.  I'd probably be ok with that too if he just pointed at people and made fake gun noises like Liquid in MGS4. "
