    "Everything's fine." 1

'El Shaddai' is ancient Hebrew for 'the word of God'. It is a game where you play the role of a human named Enoch who was so angelic on earth that he got called up to heaven to work as a scribe for God. The dilemma that the player-character gets thrown into revolves around seven fallen angels. The story is complex/ambiguous to say the least, but the basic idea in El Shaddai is that God created the world and then 'called it a day'. The angels in heaven had other ideas though and began to get a bi...

An incomprehensible experience like no other. 7

It is very difficult to find the proper words to describe El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron in an accurate manner. The game could best be described as a Devil May Cry-esque action game, but that is only part of what makes the game so unique (at least given its competition). What makes the game truly memorable is the various types of insanity on display. There is little to no cohesion between scenarios, and the game somehow manages to defy expectations and logic on an almost regular basis. Ye...

A Visual Masterpiece with Divine Flair 0

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron on PlayStation 3 is a visually stunning and artistically ambitious action-adventure game that immerses players in a surreal and mythological world. With its breathtaking visuals, unique combat mechanics, and thought-provoking narrative, El Shaddai offers a distinct and memorable gaming experience that stands out among its peers.Visually, El Shaddai is a true masterpiece. The game's art direction draws inspiration from various artistic styles, ranging from cl...

All style, flash and flair; not much substance 4

Takeyasu Sawaki is known for making visually striking video games. As the lead character designer for Okami, he implemented an incredible artistic vision to a story about the goddess Amaratsu who travels to the realm of Man in the form of a white wolf in order to cleanse the land of evil. Stepping away from his character design role, Sawaki would lead the production of El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron which loosely adapts the Book of Enoch, an ancient Biblical text. Sawaki's artistic design...

    Everything is not fine... 0

Lured by the cell shaded visuals of this game I decided to give it a try. A third-person action adventure game with a promising graphical and selectively used style should be a formula for a unique game. El Shaddai is a unique game for sure, but the execution of the premise is painful to experience. This is hands down one of the worst games I have ever played, and I finished the experience on a very sour note and due to its absence in difficulty. The lack of challenge is confusing, and the zero ...

    Gorgeous and insane 0

Go on any video game forum and the number one complaint you hear from gamers is that no one in the industry takes risks. That every game is a rehash of the same old stuff. Well, El Shaddai is here to demonstrate that developers can still go on a limb and do something crazy.Game play: The very definition of a character action game and probably the most normal element of the game. If you have played Devil May Cry, or any game like it you will know what it is about. But it works, with tight control...

El Shaddi: Ascension of the Metatron Review- Is the Art Style Enough? 0

In some ways El Shaddi is unlike any game I've ever played, but in other ways it is also a clone of some of the most popular game franchises out there today. There is nothing wrong with El Shaddi, but other than the art style there is nothing to get really excited about either. After a lot of deliberation 4 out of 5 stars felt like the right score for the game. The story is okay, the price seems a little high at 60 dollars, and the combat seems too simple to get excited over. The story follows th...

Gorgeous game, with flawed combat. 0

After a long absence, I have a new video review of El Shaddai: Ascention of the Metatron. Notes: I did mean to put the art from the Untitled El Shaddai Project in the video, but I forgot....
