    Zurg also happens to be Buzz's father, a reference to a certain intergalactic villain.
     
    However, contrary to what the second movie made us believe, in the animated film we find out that Zurg uses the line "I am your father" as a way to distract Buzz Lightyear. So it is up to speculation whether he was really designed to be Buzz' father.
