Overview

Darth Vader is the central character in the Star Wars franchise. He is the Chosen One, a Jedi legend who brings balance to the Force. Vader was born as Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine and the Prequel Trilogy cover his journey from slavery to becoming a Jedi and his eventual fall to the Dark Side. Along the way, he earns a great name for himself by saving the Galactic Republic more than a few times and creates close relationships with other major characters in the series like his Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi and his love interest, Padme Amidala. The prequels end with Anakin turning his back on the Jedi and swearing his allegiance to the Emperor.

The Original Star Wars Trilogy takes place 19 years after the destruction of the Jedi Order and focuses more on his son, Luke Skywalker's story. Vader is portrayed as an antagonistic character and tries to turn his son towards the dark side as well. But the tables are turned when Luke manages to find some good in his father. With his help, Anakin Skywalker redeems himself and defeats the Emperor aboard the fully operational Death Star. Sadly, Anakin suffered heavy damage to his suit during the encounter and dies in his son's arms on the Death Star, shortly before it explodes.

Birth And Pre Episode 2 Events.

Anakin Skywalker was born on an unknown planet, to Shmi Skywalker. They were taken on a transport to Tatooine, and soon sold as slaves to Gardulla The Hut. Watto won Anakin and Shmi in a podrace bet against Gardulla, and the family lived together until Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi took him and after Jinn's death, Kenobi trained him as a jedi.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Darth Vader technically appears in the campaign mode after Anakin Skywalker swears his allegiance to Senator Palpatine / Darth Sidious. The game includes the sequence where Darth Vader attacks the Jedi at the Jedi Temple. The game also includes Vader's mission on Mustafar, to kill the Separatist leaders, and the ultimate battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader.

Completing certain missions in the campaign mode allowed the player to play bonus scenarios. Some of these scenarios involved playing as the armoured Darth Vader. In the multiplayer duel mode, Darth Vader is a playable character after unlocking.

Lego Star Wars

The plot in the Lego series follows a very similar path to their movie counterparts and Vader's role in it is largely the same. The Vader lego is available as a collectible or a playable character in all the games in the franchise so far.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

The game covers a previously unexplored area in Vader's past - specifically the period between the two movie trilogies. It shows us how Vader went about systematically destroying the Jedi over the course of two decades. During one such extermination mission on Kashyyyk, Vader encounters a gifted force user named Galen Marek (a.k.a Starkiller). Vader decides to kidnap the young child and raise him as his apprentice.

The game's first mission lets the players control Vader in a form of abilitease as he wipes out a village and some stormtroopers in an attempt to hide the child. After this point, Vader becomes an NPC and a quest giver as players take control of his secret apprentice. Starkiller eventually loses faith in Vader and revolts against him. Depending on the players moral choices, Galen can either kill Vader (non-canon for rest of Star Wars, canon for TFU) or spare him and sacrifice himself.

In TFU, Darth Vader was voiced by Matt "Chad Vader" Sloan.

Soul Calibur IV

Darth Vader is available as a playable character in the PS3 version of the game. Xbox 360 users can unlock him via DLC.

Ending

After a battle with Algol, Algol becomes angry (which powers him up) and charges Darth Vader, Vader then stops him, by Force-choking him to death. Soul Calibur and Soul Edge drop out of Algol's hands, Vader disignites and holsters his lightsaber, before Force-grabbing Soul Calibur and Soul Edge. A portal opens, leading Vader back to his own Dimension. A message then comes up, saying that now that Darth Vader possesses Soul Calibur and Soul Edge, the Rebels will surely yield before the power of the Galactic Empire.

The Clone Wars

The Clone Wars series of games tie into the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and the 2008 theatrical release of the same name. Players take control of Anakin Skywalker as a fresh Jedi Knight and a budding teacher to his new apprentice, Ahsoka Tano.

Masters of Tera Kasi

On finishing the single player mode with Vader, players get the message "Hail the New Emperor".
