There are reportedly 50 or so factions in the game, 10 of which will be playable from the start. If this is anything like its predecessors then we'll all have fun modding/unlocking the rest. So, which factions or nations would you like to see, or play as, besides the 10 already confirmed?
Empire: Total War
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Mar 03, 2009
The fifth installment in the Total War series from The Creative Assembly. Empire: Total War features the series' hallmark blend of real-time strategic battles, and turn-based empire building. Empire takes place during the 18th century — an age of imperial expansion, trade, rifles and cannons.
Faction you would like to see in the game
No, it's a turn based strategy game with tactical battles. It's no more an RTS than World in Conflict.
"No, it's a turn based strategy game with tactical battles. It's no more an RTS than World in Conflict."The devs even state that it is an RTS/TBS. Its almost like two different games in one, the "tactical battles" are in real time and require strategy to win, RTS. The main campaign map is turn based and requires strategy to win, TBS.
Have you seen what CA considers history? Can you really trust them to understand the difference between tactics and strategy?
"Have you seen what CA considers history? Can you really trust them to understand the difference between tactics and strategy?"Tactics and strategy are linked, and I dont think people are going to want to call it RTT/TBS, the general term that most people would understand when explaining a total war game is TBS with RTS battles.
Oh Bellum.
CA's games have historical inaccuracies, yes. Some because gameplay requires that they simplify things, and no doubt also some oversights or outright errors. But the inference from such inaccuracies to their not understanding a rather contrived destinction is unwarrented.
Still, the point about World in Comnflict is well taken, although that game has some sort of resources and recruiting in real time, whereas Total War games have none. In that respect they're even more unlike traditional RTS's (though I think that desscription is still broadly appropriate).
I just want to use the english and get my hands on some hessians. Also, a civil war Mod/Expansion would own
If they set the game about 100 years later, they could include Canada's origin story, much like they're doing with the US already. I'd like to see that in an expansion or something.

Mods have proven that there is no gameplay advantage behind such blatant oversimplification. If CA thinks that there is, they are wrong. I imagine it's more to cater to what people expect from what they have learned in popular history, to be honest. Rome was by far the worst in this regard, being more fantasy than anything resembling history.
Being a norwegian I would like to have Norway as a playable factione. If you take it from Denmark and let the citizens rise up against you, they fill found a Norwegian militia and will be listed as a independent minor nation. I so wish that I could play them, and not just against them.
