Everquest II: Extended
Everquest II was launched as a pay-to-play MMO, and remained this way for well over 5 years. It recently went free-to-play with minimal restrictions for free players, as well as a Cash Shop where players can purchase certain items with real world money. These items include new races, classes, mounts, cosmetic items, expansions, and so forth.
-Graphics: The game looks amazing. Keep in mind, this game was released the same year World of Warcraft was released. It looks amazing. It's gone through quite a few face-lifts, but it looks and runs great. The lighting is fantastic as it casts realistic shadows. The armor and characters look fantastic, while the creatures look phenomenal. The landscapes are very artsy and feel other-worldly. I personally am a huge fan of the graphics.
-Music: Whoever composed the music for this game deserves more money from Sony. It's amazing. Sounds much more cinematic than anything Jeremy Soule has done (composer of Guild Wars, Oblivion, etc). A nice touch is, right when the combat music comes to an end, the last note matches perfectly with the sheathing of your swords. Epic.
-Gameplay: Typical MMO gameplay for the most part. The quests are varied; there's more than just kill X amount of creature X. The dialog is amazing. If you actually read it, you'll see how much work and spirit was put into this game. There's lots of lore and funny dialog to experience. You can jump, have mounts, swim. The level cap is currently 90. There's been numerous expansion packs that add so much content each, now all included with the Free to play system, except for the most recent one.
Verdict: Play it. There's no big download, it downloads as you play. Nothing to lose, everything to gain.
