Overview
Darkpaw Games is a development studio within Daybreak Games. On January 21, 2020, Daybreak Games announced that they had split their development teams into three separate studios in order to have distinct teams focused on the company's core franchises. Darkpaw Games, based in San Diego, is responsible for the ongoing development of EverQuest, EverQuest II, and future EverQuest projects. The other two studios (Dimensional Ink Games and Rogue Planet Games) were assigned to DC Universe Online and PlanetSide respectively.
The team at Darkpaw Games was led by Holly Longdale who had been a designer and producer on the EverQuest franchise since 2003. On March 6, 2020, Longdale left Darkpaw Games. Jennifer Chan then took over as studio head.
The studio is named after the Fippy Darkpaw legendary gnoll that has been valiantly charging the gates of Qeynos every seven minutes since EverQuest launched in April 1999. As such, the studio's motto is "Never Give Up".
