Evil Dead: Regeneration puts Ash into a non-canon world in which he never went back in time after Evil Dead II. He also gets a half deadite sidekick.

    Deadite Smiting Fun!

The game begins post-Evil Dead 2 in an alternate reality where Army of Darkness has not (yet) taken place. Ash finds himself in an insane asylum and from there the game steamrolls into a fun romp into the Evil Dead world. The graphics aren't horrible and some of the sound effects in the game are freakin' great. Ash is accompanied early on in the game by a deadite companion named Sam who can be used and/or abused by Ash in various useful and hilarious ways. As players progress through the game you'll unlock new weapons and gadgets which make deadite smiting more fun than you can imagine. The game takes players from the familiar cabin to a swamp, an abandoned mine and several other locations which lend themselves well to the Evil Dead story.

There are a few glitches which can be infuriating such as Sam getting stuck in the landscape forcing you to reboot your game and have to start a level from the beginning and over all the game is relatively short but aside from those two things the game is relatively "bug free" can be enjoyed as much as any other game. This clearly being a niche game and it's probably not for everyone. I liked it significantly more than "A Fistful of Boomstick" but for anyone who is a fan of the Evil Dead franchise, you'll get your moneys worth out of it for sure.
