Overview
Ron Simmons is a member of the WWE Hall of Fame as well as the College Football Hall of Fame. He is recognized as the first African-American World Heavyweight Champion when he defeated Big Van Vader in 1992 in WCW. When Simmons joined WWF, he changed his name to Faarooq Asaad as the leader of The Nation of Domination. Throughout his run in WWF/E, it was acknowledged Faarooq was previously known as Ron Simmons as his college football accolades were commonly touted. Near the end of his career in WWE, his name was officially changed back to Ron Simmons.
