Yea, I noticed some other Fallout 3 mods like FOOK, it makes sense since the engine hasn't really changed at all.

Where there are lonely geeks there will be nude mods.

There are some great quest fixes Search for the word 'fix' in the search box and install most of them, if you like. It's helped me with some bugged quests. I can't wait for a group of people to get together and make an amazing unofficial patch like they did for Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

Yeah, have you seen the porn mods in Oblivion? You can cast spells that will put NPCs in sexual positions, then you can cast spells on yourself that will put you in a sexual position.

There's mods for FO3 that are even worse than that.

@Mikemcn: On the first day it was released, there was already 2 nude mods. One of them was a high res one with multiple selections. Shortly thereafter came the animated prostitution mod. They are now both almost at the top of the top 100 files on the site.

This was one of the reasons as to why I stopped modding for Oblivion and FO3, I don't mind nude mods but when the entire top 100 is made out of bikin armors and shit like that you just kinda die a little inside.

Anyways here are some I'm using right now: 1 2 3

I think they released the mod tools really early this time for one main reason.... they knew the community would fix the bugs.
    Better Binoculars
Ghost Armor (requires killing friendly NPC to get though due to limitations of the maker) Looks like this and I'm working on making it a Stealth suit.

I'm bumping this for great justice. This is what I'm using right now. I don't like changing the game too much, especially not during my first run. I prefer tweaking it a bit rather than completely overhauling it.

No Auto-aim: Exactly what it says on the tin. Makes realtime combat much, much better.
URWL for New Vegas: Changes the lightning settings to make them much more realistics. I haven't played much with this, but the game does look a lot better not being completely greenish brown... Maybe a bit too better... *shrugs*
Centered 3rd Person Camera: No more constrained over-the-shoulder camera in 3rd person mode!

I'll try that Binoculars mod. I'm using the rifle scope to look afar right now :P

the directx9 fix is essential, even if you dont want to use mods. Went from a stuttering 35-50 fps to a smooth 60.

Also the pulled back centered 3rd person camera actually makes it so you could play the game like a 3rd person rpg if you use vats more than pointing and shooting.

I'm not sure whether to get a copy of New Vegas for my 360 right now or wait a month when I'll have high end desktop. Do the mods make it worth the wait or are they mostly PC specific performance upgrades and user friendly updates like the perk per level thing?

Yeah for TES and Fallout games, mods extend the life of it a lot.

I am sick of seeing mods with "Cute white/asian/black girl". or Bikini or stupid clothing mods. So many of them for Oblivion and FO3 its hard to find anything with out running into pages of stuff like that.

Some of the mods I am using are:

Mircosoft could have people install mods but then it would open up the console for pirating and putting non-sanctioned stuff on it.......not like that happens now or anything lol.

I am waiting for the clutter retextures, Stuff like alcohol bottles and smokes and pre-war money. I liked those mods a lot.

Does anyone know of a mod (or tweak) that makes VATS behave like in Fallout 3? In New Vegas, entering VATS does not reduce the damage done to you like in Fallout 3, which makes it much worse. If you are surrounded by three or more enemies, entering VATS means staying completely still like a sitting duck. Even Grim Reaper's Sprint has been severely nerfed, though I think they make the game regenerate AP faster...

Anyway, does anyone know about something that reduces the damage you take in VATS to Fallout 3 levels, or a least something similar to it?

@JoeyRavn:  There is a mod that makes Grim Reapers Sprint work just like in Fallout 3:
     http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35492

I've found it to be too overpowered though because I completely decimated everything with VATS in Fallout 3, but I am still tempted.

Nothing for VATS damage resistance yet.

    Might just aswell share this:
    http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34955
It puts your companions in sandbox mode instead of guard mode when you tell them to wait, meaning that they will interact with the environment e.g sit on chairs, lean against walls, collect meat from dead animals, that sort of stuff.

I use the dll fix, obviously, but that didn't reduce the stuttering. 4GB Fallout New Vegas, on the other hand, makes the game as smooth as a baby's ass... (no pedo? I guess). You can use it with the dll and Steam without any problem. You'll get Achievements and everything, even though the Steam overlay recognizes the 4GB launcher as another game, so you won't get the information you'd normally get without it... but hey, it's a small, almost meaninglss, price to pay for a huge improvement over vanilla FNV. Oh, and it works even if you don't have 4GB of RAM and/or an x64 OS.

The DX9 fix worked great for me, Before I would only have to have a battle with 3 or more human enemies for the game to stutter. Now its all good. Also trying out the idle companion mod.

You guys should check out this mod, Its Work In Progress still but its gonna add some companions from FO3. They already got Jericho but since theres this stupid Copyright with everything from FO3 they couldnt include the voices. But if you already have FO3 on your computer installed you can use it. Keep in mind that its still WIP though.

I also found "Bottle That Water" a very handy mod, especially in Hardcore mode. Makes you fill empty bottles.

Question, wouldn't that community bug patch fuck the game up once an official patch comes along, assuming the official patch would be trying to change things that have already been changed (probably in a different way)?

@FuzzYLemoN:  There's no reason it should do anything bad, as far as I know. Besides, a lot of these community patches get edited. It's not the same people behind the unofficial patches that were for Oblivion and Fallout 3. They were very vigilant and always edited out fixes that were redundant after each patch but in those cases it didn't mess up the game. Somebody else might no more than me.

If that's the (unlikely) case, you deactivate the mod and problem solved. It's a simple .esp file, you don't modify anything in a "hard" way.

Some mods that I have been using and didn't see mentioned already:

    DarNified UI NV
This was my favorite UI mod for Fallout 3 so I am glad that it is being done again for NV.  It streamlines a lot of things and makes much better use of the screen real estate provided by higher PC resolutions.  It is still in beta so he only posts it in the bethsoft forums instead of the nexus (although it doesn't look like a beta to me!).

    Fellout NV
This mod removes some of the color filters and improves the lighting (along with making the nights much darker).  The weather is also updated. I believe it is similar to URWL.

    Brighter PipBoy Light
This mod lets you make the PipBoy light 1.5 or 2 times brighter.  Especially useful with the above mod where nights are darker.

    Enhanced Scope Zoom
This mod lets you increase the zoom on all rifle scopes by 2 or 4 times.  I'm currently using the 2x file.  This is helpful if you do a lot of sniping but felt that the default scope zoom is a bit too weak.

    Silence Companions When Sneaking
This mod removes all the annoying dialogue that your companions repeat over and over again when you are sneaking around.  "Am I going to have to take that away from you?"  "Don't worry about me deary, your grandma knows how to stay quiet.", etc.

@Xealot42:  Added some of them to the list. I'm trying the UI mod you suggested, looks cool. Don't like the font or how small the HUD is but I'll see how it goes. There is already a silence companion mod under the audio section.
