I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this. When I first started this game, I didn't really have a problem with the load times or the frame rate, but at about 20 hours in, they're both becoming a real pain.
My load times are probably 3-4 times longer than when I started the game. I didn't even realize that the loading screen would change and display multiple messages/images at first, but now I'm seeing at least half a dozen before I get away from the loading screen. I've also on several occasions had the game hang at a black screen for 10 seconds or so after the loading screen.
Then there's the frame rate. Even early on it would occasionally slow to a crawl for a few seconds and then return to full speed, but now it's happening far too often. I actually just had to stop playing because I was basically watching a slide show for about five minutes and got fed up with it. I pretty much couldn't do anything because any button inputs were taking several seconds to be reflected on the screen.
So, anyone else seeing this same thing? Also, I'm playing with the game installed to the hard drive right now, but I may try playing from the disc just to see if this happens to be one of those cases where playing from the hard drive actually slows down a game.

Load Times and Frame Rate Get Worse the Longer You Play?
Hopefully this problem is remedied with the upcoming patch, unless it has already been dispatched. Either way, hearing about this specific problem during the Bombcast/ Quick Look from Jeff seems to carry some weight with others' experiences of those playing the console version of the game. No problems here on the PC side, just smooth sailing throughout the 20 hours I've put into thus far. What I might suggest is possibly clear your system's cache? Not really sure how you can deal with something that is seemingly the game's fault.
Edit: I guess the patch did come out, so don't mind me. =P
I'm definitely going to try clearing the cache and playing the game from the disc to see if either of those alleviate this issue, but it really is a damn shame that I should even have to deal with this issue.
I really like what I've played so far, but this issue is making it really difficult for me to continue enjoying it. I can't even imagine how bad it will get if it continues to get worse as I play even further into the game.
Sounds like that game has some serious memory leaks. Hopefully they fix this in a patch, hence why I'm waiting until these issues are fixed before buying.
I'm playing on PC and the load times are fine for me. But I have a definite feel that the frame rate is worse than it was in F3. I seriously need to upgrade my rig but since it runs worse then the previous game it feels like they have some tech issues.
Obsidian games feel like they're Italian cars, so much passion and excitement and beauty...but the wheels fall off in left turns =P
I got the opposite of what most people seem to have trouble with here. My games runs too FAST. But not consistently. Take for example the first little town. Smooth framerates and all, and sometimes the NPC's even move too fast than what I suppose they should move like, but then came the Cobb quest and WHAM... slideshow city. As soon as the last enemy died, BAM! High FPS again.
I'm utterly confused...
Have you tried clearing out your cache on the 360?
I know that Oblivion and Fallout 3 had the same issues at times. The old stupid engine just bogs down things, when the cache goes to hell. As far as i know this only happens on the 360, i haven't hear of any cache issues on the PC or PS3. So they must handle the engine in a different way in that area.
I'm playing on ps3 and not noticing load times increasing but I am having an increase in freezing as I play. Of course that could just be random bad luck, but is anybody else having crazy drops in frame rate while in Freeside? Doesn't seem to be hitting me anywhere else but when I'm screwing around there the game tends to turn into a slide show.
Yesterday I literally fell asleep while waiting for a zone to load. That's how bad this problem is. A real shame too because every other aspect of the game is fucking awesome. I can definitely see why Jeff took a star away for all of the technical problems.
