You see, early in my first characters life, I decided to do the interesting thing, and align myself with Caesar's Legion due to how interesting their faction is, but probably a good deal down their quest line, I'm beginning to have doubts. While Caesar is, in fact, the greatest intellectual I have ever met in a Fallout game (or possibly otherwise), his society has done little to offset the losses I've taken to support him. For a start, I haven't seen his civilization in full, and I'm beginning to give up hope of ever venturing outside of the Fort. It's getting to the point where I'm beginning to think the only value Legion money has is trading for chips in Casinos. Part of me still hopes that if I get into their good graces I'll be made a citizen and will be allowed to roam around the right side of the map, but I'm not sure if that's ever going to happen at this point.
More though, it's about what Caesar wants me to do. Now, I'm not a violent man. I have only one belief, and that's if someone shoots at me, they're dead. No negotiations, no survivors. And I thought that was the basis of Caesar's philosophy as well, the thought that degenerates should be killed where they stand because it's the right thing to do, but I think he's a lot more concerned with the big picture than I am, and that difference is beginning to be trouble. You see, I've recently been ordered to find the brotherhood of steel, and take them out. Now, I'm not opposed to killing folk far more experienced and armed than I am, it's just... They've allowed me into their society, and now I just want to buddy up with them so that I get the perks of their society. You see, unlike Caesar's Legion, I feel the Brotherhood could really offer me something. Now, I am aware that they don't offer the Legion much long term value as Caesar said, but as a lone wanderer they give me the chance to arm myself heavily, and get tech that I would otherwise never get. They have the perks, where Caesar's Legion has the philosophical edge.
Now, I'm really not sure what to do here. On one hand, Caesar's Legion could very well open up as soon as I destroy the bunker. On the other hand, if I were to do that, I could end up firing the 10mm Preorder Pistol for the rest of the game, since they're not really big into technology. On the other hand, I could just get in with the Brotherhood, which would allow me to be who I want to be outside of their society. I'd have to go into Yes Man's quests, though I did destroy the Securitrons at the base, so it would be harder. From another perspective, I think it could be a little weak if I went all this way into the Legion's quests and then bailed out this far in, after so many things have been done. On the other hand, I think it would be an authentic bit of roleplaying if my character decided to back out of it. Possibly get the Brotherhood Companion and go shoot up The Fort. (If I can refuse the guy at the gate and kill everyone.)
Not sure really. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Comments?
Edit: Damn. Damn Damn. I didn't see that typo in the title until the second after I posted it.

Trying to decided what to do regarding the Legion and Brotherhood
.... Well my legion experience was different. Walk into town, legion has tortured and or killed everyone, legion walks up to me and says rather politely I am only letting you live because I need you to run around other places and tell them how bad ass we are so people wet themselves. The other thing I don't like about it them is they seem to have this uninhibited idea that basically, everyone that isn't in the Legion needs to die. I can understand why they do what they do to say great khans, but random civilian who is just a brahmin rancher gets the same deal. Seems iffy to me. That and that one time I forgot I was wearing NCR gear because I needed an armor boost so they started shooting at me, it isn't like I wasn't going to defend myself....
As for the brotherhood they aren't all bad they just don't want to share their cake. Once you get past all their threatening to kill you (legion has the same roadblock) they aren't that bad a bunch of guys. They also have really nice rifles... yeah gauss rifles..... What does the legion have? Oh yeah.... cowboy repeaters and machetes... with a smattering of baseball bats.
Well yeah, I'm going to eventually start a new character or two like in Fallout 3, but I was planning on this one being my Legion one. Not sure if I want to go through with it, since it seems more authentic to the character I am creating to go with the Brotherhood." Ever heard of multiple saves/playthroughs?"
Edit: I decided to further the Yes Men ending. That way I can get into good graces with the Brotherhood at my own pace.
It was pretty much decided for me when I walked into that town and saw the crucified dudes lining the road. When that Legion lieutenant dude struts up to me and essentially says I'm only allowed to live to spread a message of fear... Yeah, I killed those bitches.
