Great game with a few caveats

Far Cry 3, while it may not be as ambitious as Far Cry 2, but it’s just a better game. In so many different ways from the shooting to the art direction it improves on the neat ideas Far Cry 2 had and turns them into a much greater product , where you explore this giant tropical island, hunting tigers, sharks and bears, and taking bake out post from the pirates for the indigenous people. (The Rakyat) If you like first person shooter and a big open world this just might be for you.

The game starts with you, and your brother, in a cage getting ready to be sold into slavery or be held for ransom. You have one of the best villains i've seen toying with you, Vass, as your tied up in this cage after a brief tutorial you escape and are saved by a native tribe to the island, the Rakyat, they help you on your way to save your friends. The story starts out with real promise, but as you start to go along and they don't explain a lot about what is going on. The game has a bunch of cliche dream sequences where after they're over your left wonder, how the hell did I get and and what the fuck happen. They don’t even mention the fact that at the beginning of the game your this scared boy and by the end you've kill hundreds of people no sweat. The story had such great promise, but it’s squandered by the end of the game and just left feeling sad about what they could have done.

The gameplay is something to be marveled at, it is this great mix of stealth and action, where you can sneak around a base and assassinate dudes from behind or find a nice spot on a cliff looking down on your enemy with your silenced sniper and just start picking guys off, and when it all goes wrong and somehow they find you, you can take out your assault rifle and just start shooting guys. The game have a good group of enemies to keep you guessing from dudes that will just run up on you with a molotov cocktail to snipers to big heavies that you can't take down in one headshot. Tip: you can throw C4 at those heavies and it kills them very quickly, it’s very effective and a lot of fun.

The game is at it’s best when it just lets you take whatever approach you want to something whether it be stealth or balls out crazy action. This is where you run into some problems with a lot of the story missions forcing you to not be see or here’s this group of enemies in this tight space. They also have this big part in the middle of the game that just feels like they could think of anything better so they take you on about five of 6 different fetch quest that are all relatively boring, but you want to see what happens at the end so you do them, and wouldn’t necessarily call them bad just not as good as the rest of the game.

The game as a Whole feels like more than a full package it feels stuff to the top and then some, you have a great first person shooter wrapped in this very well realized open world with so much to do from hunting so that you can craft that new ammo pouch and kill more guys before having to get more ammo, to climbing radio towers to unlock more part of you map, sure it has a lackluster story that might frustrate you, and a couple boring story missions, but as a whole Far Cry 3 does what it set out todo make a really fuk n open world first person shooter.

Really good - but falls shy of greatness 0

(Spoilers are present in this review - not that you should play this game for story)Far Cry has always been a series whose entries have had grand ideas but have fallen short of what they could deliver on. The original had these huge, gorgeous, wide-open areas with many different ways in and around things, but it was a very difficult game and the latter half was horribly unbalanced. The second was full of ideas about fighting a civil war, finding the antagonist, dealing with malaria, and roaming ...

A Tropical Odyssey of Madness and Liberation 0

In the ever-evolving landscape of open-world gaming, Ubisoft's Far Cry 3 stands as a testament to the genre's potential for captivating storytelling, immersive environments, and dynamic gameplay. Released in 2012, this instalment in the Far Cry series takes players on a harrowing journey through the lush, untamed landscapes of a tropical island, blending elements of survival, first-person shooting, and role-playing.
