    Fez

Game » consists of 15 releases. Released Apr 13, 2012

A puzzle platformer developed by Polytron that uses a 2D perspective shifting mechanic to solve puzzles and complete levels. The main character, a white creature named Gomez, wears a fez and is obsessed with collecting hats.

    Short summary describing this game.

This guide is currently a work in progress.

    Intro

This is a general puzzle-solution guide for Fez. If you want to add a solution then feel free to do so but please stick to the established formatting. I've tried to be as spoiler-free as possible but you may still have things inadvertently revealed you so take that as a warning. If you just want to know how to find an anticube, artifact, etc then just look along the table of contents. Solution to the Black Monolith is right at the end of the guide.

    Glyphs

    Alphabet

For clues on how to solve this go to the 'Mushroom Madness (M)' section.

    Numerals

    Button Inputs

For clues on how to solve this go to the 'Clasroom 2 (S)' section.

    Button Input Example

A typical puzzle involving the tetrominos will look like this:

To solve it, first separate the puzzle into its constituent tetriminos. Then, rotate each tetrimino by 90 degrees and input the code you no have. A visual aid is given below:

    How to Use This Guide

Fez is a confusing game to get through and that means making a guide for it is also slightly tricky. You'll notice next to each stage name there is either an S, M or B in brackets. These represent the three sizes of cube zones seen on the map: small, medium and big. Small zones are mostly single rooms. Medium zones are usually in between big zones but can also lead to multiple small zones. Big zones are mainly hubs which lead to many other zones.

The '>' symbol next to a level indicates how far out from a B zone it is on the game map. Each '>' chain starts from a B zone and follows every path out from that zone on the game map up to a dead end or another B zone. For example:

    Level 1 (B)

    > Level 2 (M)

    >> Level 3 (S)

    > Level 4 (S)

Here, Level 2 and Level 4 both directly follow on from Level 1 (i.e. there is a door in 1 which will lead to 2, and another separate door in 1 which will lead to 4). Level 3, on the other hand, only directly follows on from Level 2 and not Level 4, it is also a dead end. The best way to read the guide is in conjunction with the game map, as the map makes use of 3D space which is difficult to convey in text.

5 of the big zones are hubs (labelled with a H in brackets next to the stage name) as they contain a warp gate. Warp gates are very useful as they can teleport you to any other previously visited warp gate.

The names given to each zone are made up by me as there are no in-game names given to the stages. I've based the stage names on what the level looks like and tried to make them somewhat distinct. (This guides one claim to fame is that Renaud Bédard, Fez's programmer, called my level names "cool".)

The rest of the guide should be self-explanatory but if you have any queries put them in the comments.
