Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Ring Of Fates Review-

I try really hard to like Final Fantasy games; I just don’t like the turn based battle systems, this is why I love the hack and slash action of Diablo, when I discovered that my favorite platform would have a real time Final Fantasy game I got exited, the game reminds me a lot of Kingdom Hearts with the way the game works, you play as Yuri,, a Clavat (warrior) in the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles world and you follow his quest to save his world from the evil Moontouched.

The game is sorted out into different dungeons that are accessed via world map, the game features 10 story dungeons as well as several locations that progress the story, each dungeon is different and feature the generic fantasy locales such as lava level, ice level and forest.

The combat in the game is real-time similar to kingdom hearts for melee combat whilst magic is targeted and cast using items called magicite that can be bought or dropped from dead enemies.

Players can play as one of four different characters.
-The Clavat which plays as a warrior
-The Yuke which plays as a magic user
-The Selkie which uses a bow to attack enemies from afar
-The Litlie which plays as a melee character that can turn itself into a pot (odd) and create magicite using alchemy.
The characters are unique but I found that the Yuke and Clavat seemed more powerful that the other two characters.

The sound design in the game is excellent the music is spot on; its catchy fits the game very well and is worthy enough to warrant my purchase of the soundtrack.

The game uses a simple yet unique item system were players find recipes and materials in the games dungeons, players bring these recipes to a workshop in the games hub location “The City Of Rebena Te Ra” and if they have the materials required they can buy the item almost all weapons and armor are gained through this system.

The single player mode is fun and about 13 hours long, featuring excellent voice acting and animation, but I found the real meat of the game to be in multiplayer.
In Multiplayer, you and up to 4 other friends to play through the dungeons, get loot, and level.
In Multiplayer the game removes the Cut scenes and story from the game and adds 3 or so extra dungeons and a quest feature which involves completing challenges like defeating all enemies in a time limit or defeating a room full of invisible enemies this mode is a nice distraction.

All in all I found Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Ring of Fates a very god DS action RPG and the First RPG I’ve found on my DS that rivals TWETY (the world ends with you).
