The right kind of PSN game
FlOwer deserves all the honour it can get. The developers have managed to dig deep into a small concept, and bring out something big. After being introdused properly to the controlls, flOwer takes you with it to a wonderful world of exploration and wonders. Taking you through emotional highs and lows, and at the end blossoming into the experience you would only hope to find at the end of the stalk. The game excells in all the areaes it tackles, but manages to limit the amounts of these areas. The game itself is made up of a simple mechanic: Moving the wind with the six-axis controller to gather up petals, but the experience of the game does not lie in the mecanic but in the visuals and how it makes you feel.
This is to say, the game is made up of several elements, music, controlls, sound, visual feedback, colour, but the sum of these parts that make up flOwer give you a wholesome impression and feeling. This ride through emotions is what makes this game so great. When you finally at the end lay down you controller, you are going to feel as if you just experienced something great.
This game deserves it's top grade for managing to limit itself in size, but still giving the player a feeling of having partisipated in something great. It does not in itself present a realistic challenge, and can thus be said to be an "art" experience", but there is challence to be found if you seek for it. Coupled with excellent sound design, visuals and the most kickas credit roll you can imagine (I'm not kidding here), it has earned it's five stars.
