  • Whilst  I definitely won't be against it and will happily pay (probably no more than $10-$15 a year), There would need to be more content created that could become I guess *exclusive* to premium users.   Let's see what they decided to do.

  • I must say that I have never had any problems with consoles up until this gen.  Master System, Genesis, PS1, Xbox, GCN.. I had no problems with.  Now I have had an X360, PS3 and Wii all sent back for repair.   And for the record there at one each.  It had been lucky that they have all been within warranty and it doesn't leave a sour point for each ...

Hey guys... need some help!!  My PS3 yellow lighted last night so I have to send it back for repair (still within the warranty) but I know that Sony reformats the HDD when they fix them as per the agreement of the repair.  So I am wondering if there is any way I can retrieve the data (mainly saves) from the HDD.  I know that you can't simply put the HDD ...

Im not sure who else this has affected but this is how it is in the land down under.

Most of you know of the whole Sony, Ghostbusters, weird, publishing thing in Europe and Australia (and Kiwi Land).
And it was comforting to know that Ghostbusters in America was going to be region free... Thanks Atari of the US of A.

So the latest from the weird of Sony.

I'm not to sure if it is known (did a quick search of the forums and stuff and found nudda) but it seems that Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has secured the publishing rights the Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen Game on PSP.  Weird 1.

Weirder is what Sony has decided to do with that right.  They have decided to give it away free with any new purchase of a PSP console... that's fine.  BUT THAT IS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET THE GAME.

They haven't allowed the game for single sale ONLY for bundling with new PSP purchases.  Which leaves the current PSP users base hung out to dry.  Now I don't own a PSP... I chose and Iphone but whilst the game itself may or may not be good, I do believe that all of the PSP user base in Australia should be entitled to play this game if they so choose.  Now I'm pretty sure that most PSP games (if not all) are region free.  So much like the Ghostbusters thing, people should be able to import this game no problem.  Which leaves Australian retailers high and dry because PSP don't sell well anyway.  Oh well hopefully Sony will see sense soon.

Recently it was announced that Activision had announced a partnership with Logitech to develop some "premium instruments" for the Guitar Hero franchise.  I recently received some info from work detailing release, price and platform.

First is the guitar is to be released for X360 platform and priced at $399 AUS (roughly estimating $259US, but that could be hella wrong).

Logitech Guitar
Logitech Guitar
First It is made pretty much like an electirc with a solid wood body and solid neck and head with frets and so on with the coloured buttons and slide built into the neck.  Pretty much the only differnce from a real one is the lack of strings and  pickups

Second is the Drum Kit which is to be released for PS2/PS3 priced also at $399 AUS.  I can't find a picture of it anywhere except from the stuff I've seen at work. So I'll try to describe it if I can.  first off the 3 pads and 2 cymbals are all built on to one solid steel frame.  It is also portable with the ability to fold it flat for easy storage (which is very handy) and the kick pedal is pretty much made like a real pedal except without the actual kick and springs. The kit is also angled up and towards you so the frame doesn't get in the way of your performance.

These instrument are apparently to be released in September in Australia which probably means USA would get them a bit earlier.

But my main question to the GB community and what I wanna find out is would you buy? granted that they would be much much better quality than the crap that came with Guitar Hero, but would you pay the money or would you just go buy the real thing for a little bit more?

Mergers (or take overs) should be the word on peoples lips coming into E3 in a couple of weeks, With Apple already digging it's claws into EA, Namco Bandai want a piece of the pie as well.  That pie seems to taste like Atari's European publishing and marketing division which includes none other than this man.  So when it was announced that Ghostbusters would be exclusive to PS3, PS2 and PSP in PAL territories, we all thought it was fishy for numerous reasns.  Why is Sony  throwing money at a game at all? And why are they throwing it at Ghostbusters in particular, it is not going to be a system seller.  We all thought Sony were just being mean.

This may not be the case (although it is still mean).

MCV reports that Namco Bandai are in the process of buying out the remaing 66% of Atari Europe that they don't own as yet.  This basically spells the death of Atari in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.  It also means the birth of Namco Bandai (or Distribution Partners as they will be officially known) in these regions.

So to the Sony deal at hand.  All it appears to be at this time was a way of getting Ghostbusters onto shelves on time in these affected regions while Namco Bandai completes its aquistion of Atari in Europe. Atari in the USA is still going to operate normally.

But the question still remains with Distribution Partners set to handle future Atari publications till 2014, Is Ghostbusters a timed or fully fledged exclusive for Sony in PAL territories?

At the end of the day it seems that Ghostbusters called for helped and Sony answered.
