Overview
FOG inc. is a Japanese video game production company that was established on December 2, 1996. The studio's name is an acronym that stands for "Full On Games" and was founded by Noriyuki Munekiyo who had previously worked at Namco as well as I'Max before creating his own company.
FOG was most well known for their various adventure games with some of their most famous titles being:
- Kuon no Kizuna: A time travel story about a couple that must continuously fight demons throughout several lifetimes.
- Fuuraiki: A series about a photographer on a road trip through different regions in Japan where he visits landmarks and meets various people, including potential love-interests, while on a writing assignment.
- Missing Parts: A trilogy of mystery games about a young detective solving cases that all lead to a larger plot.
- Ichiyanagi Nagomu Series: Three detective adventure games staring a young college student solving murder mysteries.
These among other titles created by FOG developed a small following in Japan, with many of their games receiving sequels and several enhanced ports over the years.
On February 21, 2016, Noriyuki Munekiyo passed away. Sohei Niikawa, president of Nippon Ichi, had been good friends with Munekiyo for years and his company had even helped develop several of FOG's games. Because of this, Nippon Ichi acquired FOG in April of 2016 and made the studio into an NIS subsidiary. However, after the release of Fuuraiki 4, Nippon Ichi announced on December 7, 2021 that FOG would be dissolved. The studio itself would no longer exist but the brand and its IPs would live on within Nippon Ichi.
