So the Unfinished video got me to buy this game. It's really fun and has a lot of replayability even though there's only one set of levels available at the moment. Anybody else get a chance to play this? Really looking forward to the full release. It's the most fun I've had with creating stuff in a video game since Minecraft was new.

Also I'll just leave this here in case anybody wasn't convinced of this game's greatness.

I've had more fun with this 6 dollars then I have any other in a while. And that video is pretty ridiculous. I thought I was getting creative with my little stabby spike machine on wheels. My favorite bit is when I under engineer something and it just blows itself apart under it's own strength, which is just about all the creations I make.

Hahaha...that video is great. Is there any way to share Besiege creations, via Steamworks or something?

I made the usual stuff to get through the missions.

One goofy thing I made post game completion was the HugNSnug.. its a giant wall of spikes and has two smaller "arms" on the side. Built for that one mission with the tons of guys. They run at you, you wait awhile for a bunch to get close, then you use the arms to "hug" and collect/compact all of the guys in front of you. Then you activate the pistons which slowly tip the wall over until it crushes everyone in a giant bloody mess... Then you turn on the flamethrowers which set the giant corpse laden wreckage on fire to finish things off.

Ive also been working on a functioning Trebuchet yesterday and today. Made improvements and got it to function sometimes but the game is holding me back. I need a fixed length rope type thing instead of a spring and I need the wood to not be so springy/soft. It doesn't deliver enough force because the whole thing is flexing and stretching even when I've strengthened the crap out of it.

I sorta got stuck on the mission that Drew ended on, but I was messing around a lot. Gotta get more creative I think. I wonder if they'll add any more weapons that can be shot more than once, or have more ammo? Although that might ruin the puzzle element of the game.

I made a device much like the one in the OP. Unfortunately mine is all wood and I was too impatient to add in braces, so let's just say that it's a one-shot weapon. Very, very one shot.

I was proud about my mostly functional ballista until I saw that video.

I found it entertaining to have your creation half way destroy yourself, but still manage to limp to the finish on the ones that required you to get somewhere. One wheel dragging a stump, or one of the buzz saw blades pulling your busted machine to victory! Even better when ti was a random pair of saw blades spinning like mad that kills the last guy!

Here are some of the things I've made:

First of all a base of sorts to build other stuff on top of. It can spin in place like a tank and it's also quite fast (perhaps unsurprisingly since it's outfitted with 24 wheels).

My second project has been to make a bomber able to carry some heavy ordnance while still being controllable in flight (something which is surprisingly hard in this game).

This is as close as I've gotten:

It has the controls a plane/helicopter should have: Elevation, yaw, pitch, roll, all that good stuff. It also has 9 grabbers which can each carry a bomb sized object. The front grabber is placed slightly apart from the rest because fire balls do not play nice in proximity to bombs.

@hassun: How do you get it to spin in place? I'm guessing it has something to do with the key bindings.

Anyway here's some of what I've been up to.

This is my prized mobile double slingshot, reinforced up the wazoo so it doesn't get totally destroyed when I launch it.

The most stable waker I have created, I had to put flying blocks in front to generate more forward movement, the ground don't generate much friction and to prevent it from going in large circles.

@t_wester: What is the purpose of those flying blocks at the front of your machine? Incredible machine.

@kasaioni: Getting your keys set up is one of the most difficult parts of flying in Besiege for sure. Especially because the game doesn't seem to allow you to override/rebind the keys it already has set up.

Mine is set up so I have a key for lift, roll left, roll right, yaw left, yaw right, drive forward/pitch down, drive backwards/pitch up.

@hassun: It's the easiest way I have found to increase forward momentum without making the machine to unstable, my previous attempts at walkers used more pistons and were heavier in the front but they mostly tore themselves apart. Flying blocks can also be used to turn unwieldy machines .

For some reason I can't explain, the way some of these contraptions move or walk gives me the creeps. They sure are entertaining to watch though.

Was inspired by other people who tried out projectile weapons like this, it's not much but it gets the job done!

@hassun: How would you get canon barrels with the half-pipe to work? It doesn't let you put the boulder directly on the half pipe, so some mechanical part is needed to get it in the barrel somehow, and then it needs enough power to get it out the other end.

@duecenage: That second one is Rube Goldberg machine level.

The missile launcher in the OP's video and the one with a hammer inside were fantastic.

@duecenage: Make it a bit sturdier and I'm sure that catapult won't self-destruct nearly as often. :V

I've been thinking about vertical gravity based magazines too. I might try to make a cannon with that when I have some spare time.

Tried to make some cannon propelled bombs, the physics of the game means you will miss nine out of ten times but it looks great.
