Email confirmation of a new account?

I've been a member here since day one, July 21st 2008 and a premium sub since 2011. Yesterday I got an email from GB thanking me for making an account and providing an activation link. I haven't hit the link for fear of what it may do to my account. Obviously I can log in fine and use premium features. Is this just new site hiccups? I'm I the only one to have received this email?

It's nothing to worry about. I recieved the email too yesterday. As well as other during the beta. It's fine to ignore it.

@otacon: It's just CBS saying hello. You may be old to Giant Bomb, but you're new to CBSi's login system. It's safe to click on.
