Over the past few weeks my connection to the site has been finicky across all my devices (PS4, home PC, work PC). Specifically, when I try to connect to the site, especially if I haven't connected in a while, it often just won't connect at all, and I'll get a message like "the site took too long to respond" after something like 15-20 seconds:

This site can’t be reached

www.giantbomb.com took too long to respond.

Try:

ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

After that, a refresh often seems to work. Moreover, when I've actually got a video queued up and running, I DON'T experience any random interruptions/stuttering/disconnections. Rather, the problem seems simply to be getting a first response from the site at all.

Overall this seems to be a pretty minor issue, but is nonetheless irritating, and since it happens consistently across different devices and connections, it does not seem to be a problem on my end. I wish I could specify exactly when the problem began, but all I can say is that it's been at least a week, possibly two.

I have also been getting this problem. Like you said, not really a big issue and seems to fix up after a refresh but still an error none the less that might be easy to fix up :).

I've also found the site harder to reach than usual over the past couple of weeks. More common on my phone, but every now and then it just won't load.

Same thing for me on my PC and PS4. Just usually needs a refresh and it connects, but it is slightly annoying.

I thought it was only me. I surf on Safari on the latest version of iOS. Sometimes disconnecting from WiFi forces it to load. Sometimes I can’t connect at all on WiFi or cell.

Sometimes the video page loads, but the video box doesn’t appear. Just continually says “video is loading”

Same here, frequent reloading of the site seems a reliable way to fix it but entry after hitting my favourite once is rare. Mac OS Sierra, Latest version of Chrome. Also noticing some pretty bad buffering on videos, even though speedtest is reliably giving me 95Mbps. Seems to only be a problem with progressive, but having to run progressive due to the audio loop bug on the HTML5 video.

Adding to the "same here" list. Started a few weeks back and happens on mobile or my own WiFi and just the site as well as the apps I use on Android and Xbox One. Also having the video jitters and pauses where I've always been fine at HD for years.

Hey all, apologies for the trouble. I've filed a ticket and hopefully an engineer will be able to look into this.

I don’t know if this adds to the trouble shooting, but I’ve gotten this as well in the last few weeks and simply opening another site and then trying giantbomb again it works fine.

High Sierra, safari, adblocker off.

I've been getting this too. I had to change my bookmark url to this exactly and now it works for me: http://giantbomb.com/

Who else was using downforeveryoneorjustme.com to get to the site?

I wonder if this is related to the roku channel shitting the bed?

Quick question for everyone about this. Can you confirm 100% what URL you are hitting? Check your bookmark if you use one. Does it start with "http" or "https"? The correct URL is https://www.giantbomb.com/. Other versions of that (such as without the s in https, or without www) will all redirect, but looking into the possibility that this redirect is not working all the time.

Mine was originally your example correct URL. I had to remove both the s and the www to get it to work.

@steveeasley: Mine is set to http://www.giantbomb.com/, i.e. without the "s."

EDIT: I just now tried adding the "s." Closed the browser, opened it again (GB is my homepage), and I got the same time out error yet again. So that doesn't seem to be it.

I get the same site connection problems and need to refresh to fix it. I should note that these site connection problems are kinda random and don't always happen. More often than not I will connect to the site just fine, but every now and then I will get hit with it. I can't really predict it.

This has been happening to me for a few weeks. It fails to load for the first 30 seconds, then will magically be OK so long as I'm actively viewing GB. If I leave for a while and come back the problem will reappear.
