Using video player position slider in Fill Browser mode "breaks" that mode

By breaks it I mean this...

No Caption Provided

Two ways to recreate it:

One is if the video is already playing, switch to Fill Browser mode and try to move the playhead (or whatever it's called) - the video returns to what looks like its regular size, the site behind it hidden, and the video controls missing, as shown. The video can still be paused by clicking it.

The other is after the page loads, before initially clicking the play icon to trigger the player, set it to Fill Browser first then hit play - the same thing immediately happens, maybe suggesting it's not so much the slider as starting playback from any new position in Fill Browser mode.

That's with the browser window not maximized. If the browser window is maximized at the time it does the same sort of thing, but like this...

No Caption Provided

Unmaximizing the window returns it to the size shown in the first image.

  • Windows 10 64-bit
  • Screenshots taken in Firefox 56.0.2 64-bit and Vivaldi 1.12.955.48 (stable) 32-bit.
  • No real extensions to speak off... Last Pass, an ad-blocker I disabled on GB in Vivaldi only and a Pop-up Blocker in FF, also disabled.

No console errors at the time it occurs. I feel like it's only been happening in the last day or two, but can't be sure.

I'm not sure if this is related, but it started happening at the same time: minimizing Chrome will stop the video.

To recreate: pick a video, go into Fill Browser mode, begin playback, minimize Chrome!

It would seem Fill Browser mode has some issues at the moment?

Edit: the video also stops playing when simply switching back to the Giant Bomb tab. Not every time, but after maybe 10 or 15 minutes of playback if you switch back to the Giant Bomb tab the video stops. And with all of these issues it doesn't remember your position when you restart the video.

I'm getting same issue across a Windows 8 64-bit laptop and a Windows 7 64-bit desktop - both on the latest versions of Chrome. These issues started at roughly the same time as another issue I have posted about (iPhone with older iOS hanging on 'Loading Video...'). Both of these issues began after the extra life streams. As it stands, I don't have a platform that is working right. :(

Same issue. Windows 10. Firefox 56 (x86). Adblock is on. Turning it off doesn't make a difference.

I don't know if we'll get this resolved this week but I'll make sure the engineers know about it for next week. At the moment the PS4/iOS Video Loading issues are taking priority. Sorry for the trouble!

While probably not useful to pile on after Rorie has acknowledged it but I will add to the data:

  • Windows 10 Pro (64-Bit)
  • Chrome 61.0.3163.100

Not completely broken as we can go to the normal video window, adjust and return; just annoying.

Also same issue; not a deal breaker since the video can just be restarted to fix it.

Same deal with me! A gif of it in action HERE

W10 64bit Version 63.0.3239.52 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)

Didn't work with standard chrome either. The video also resets if you move the slider in any direction. Happens in both Progressive and HTML options. This does not happen in full screen mode and only in the fill screen option.

Also getting this behaviour, Windows 10 64 bit, Chrome 62.0.3202.94

Not the biggest deal considering we can still scrub through in other modes, Cheers for the good work!

Same thing here in the latest version of Firefox, although my background is grey (I assume because I'm using the dark theme, yall are crazy for going white).

I’m glad I’m not the only one experiencing this. Though it was just me. Happening in the latest version of Chrome on Windows 10-64
