Think of a movie, obscure or well known, and try to analyze it like Agent Morgan does.
Zach, what do you know about Roger Corman? Of course he's been dubbed the "King of the B-Movies," and why not? Sure, he's got over fifty movies under his belt as a director, but as a producer, he's prolific! One of them really stood out to me, though. Can you guess which one? Here's a hint: 1963. It was one of the first movies to feature Don Rickles in a significant role, but he wasn't the star. I can't tell you who was, or it would totally give it away. I'll give you some time to think about it...
Figure it out, Zach? 1963, directed by Corman, starring Don Rickles? Of course it's "X." Also called "X: The Man With X-Ray Eyes." It starred Ray Milland as a doctor obsessed with the idea of seeing through things with an experimental treatment. He thought it would make him a better doctor, he wouldn't need all that X-ray equipment and wouldn't be fooled by flaws in it. Of course, it goes horribly wrong. He can't turn off his new abilities and enters into exile. That's when Rickles comes into it, playing a carnival barker who wants to exploit the doctor's abilities. I won't give away the ending, in case you haven't seen it, but it spirals to a thrilling climax. Sure it's cheesy, but the performances really help it rise above mere B-movie status. What's your favorite B-movie, Zach?
