Anyone noticed the new YouTube looks a lot like a Whisky Site?

Guess they're just ahead of the curve.

well it looks like I am payin 50bucks a year for the future design of websites. Hardcore Dave is a internett wizard.

And Zappos.com's VIP website has a quest/achievement like system. A fucking shoe store.

Any similarities are graphic design trends that are creeping across the internet, not a copy of Whiskey. It's the same as that 'Web 2.0' look that every website wanted like 4/5 years ago.

Didn't really notice it until you pointed it out but yeah. Could they be stealing our Top Men?

What I'd like to see on Whiskey (but more so on text-heavy sites like Politico, Slate, AV Club) is an implementation of this. Also, I didn't realize the similarity until I switched the "Latest Stories" section to list view; I normally have it on grid view.

On a related note, anybody use the Cosmic Panda version of Youtube? I actually much prefer the cleaner look of that.

Looks a lot like Gmail and G+ tbh. Synergy.

Not really. I'm pretty sure Dave and Jeff talked about this on an old podcast or something, but web 2.0 design is meant to put the "river" (newest flowing content) in the middle and static promoted/related content on the sides.

GB has kinda looked like YouTube to me for a while. At least with the videos.

New trend in web design. I like it.

bah it sucks now. way to hard to see all videos from subscriptions.

Don't take that as me complaining though. I understand the reasons, and it's much better now that videos are being uploaded in "720p." At least for new ones, I don't know if they're going to re-upload the old ones. I should just get a credit card and money and subscribe.

I don't see the similarities. I can, however, say quite firmly that the new homepage is even less orderly and useful than the last.

Have they added a feature where a playlist of videos only plays through once, and doesn't loop back to the beginning?
