Mod Edit - Since we've got a new one of these pretty often, we've decided to just designate this as the thread to talk about all things fighting game related, such as FGC, what color of gi Ryu's wearing this week, et cetera. Have at it. Good luck, have Zangief.

It's time for the most biggest prize in fighting game history to be awarded, one of 32 fighting game players will walk away with $125,000, bought to you live from Sony's 2015 PlayStation Experience in Giant Bomb's home turf of San Francisco!

1^st: $125,000

All of this year's Street Fighter action during the Capcom Pro Tour has been leading up to this point, when 32 qualified players descend to fight in the biggest tournament of its kind (EVO being the biggest open-invitational tournament event respectively), to cap off what has been a big year for fighting games.

On the subject of Fight Sticks I bought my first stick 2 weeks ago along with USFIV for my PS4, with the intention of becoming competent with Ryu before SFV's release, since Sagat isn't in the game at least until 2017 if at all. I bought a Venom Arcade Stick and have no complaints about it, the Amazon reviewers described it as a good place to start for people new to fighting games / sticks and easy to mod for those that aren't one or both.

It's not so much that Rise of the Incarnates isn't a traditional fighting game. It's that it's a dead game.

Dreamhack winter is this weekend, with one spot to the Pro Tour finals on the line. If someone who already quallified by points takes that spot, it falls to, I believe, Dakou. However if someone not in the top 16 non-auto quals by points gets it, yeah he's done. One day event I believe.

@geraltitude: We'll definitely try to do it for Capcom Cup Finals but unless we get some last minute access I'm not confident we'll get it for Dreamhack.

@l1ghtn1n: I'm getting a lot more patient and making better choices this past week, I think I'll be right at home with Ryu. I don't think I'll bother putting any time into learning FADCs though since it won't be in SFV, I'll lose more USFIV matches between now and February but it'll help me in the long run to make better decisions with my DPs.

I remember that whenever I heard it was going to be two streams, I also heard that the second stream was going to be capcomfighters2, but I can't actually remember where it was I heard it. Capcom Pro Talk?

@hassun: @starvinggamer: Top half is pretty up in the air but seems like the Daigo/Infil vs Kazunoko/Bonchan setup is pretty likely on the lower half.

@fredchuckdave: @l1ghtn1n: Opposite happened to me. I wanted my favourites to win but it ended up being more of a compromise:

2. Tokido
3. Momochi
4. Kazunoko
5. Gamerbee
6. Xian
7. Nemo
8. Infiltration

In a way this is good though, it means honest Street Fighter wins the final USFIV tournament of note.

Then again it could easily go differently. For example Poongko could very well beat Momochi early on. Poongko does well against Momochi in general and he looked very good at CPTA finals.

(To this day it still amazes me how few times Kazunoko and Infiltration have met in tournament.)

@hassun: Doesn't let you choose loser's bracket? Weird. I really like Daigo's chances this year. Seems like very few chances for him to run in to an unknown quantity. Of course there's the Daigo 2/3 curse, but I still like him over Dieminion and Tokido because there shouldn't be any surprises. After that it's all 3/5 and at that point all the wildcards will have been weeded out.

@starvinggamer: I simulated the tournament again, trying to be as objective as possible. Basically the tournament of no surprises. Everyone who usually beats someone wins (skewed towards recent results) + player/character match-ups + specialities.

@starvinggamer: Problem X has the "shade" as well.

RB should also be Rolento, Xiao Hai should be E. Ryu, Du as Guile is fine and Gamerbee should definitely be Elena.

Poor Itazan has a hell bracket. He has to beat Seth and any of Momochi's zoners and then probably Fei Long. In comparison Snake Eyez actually has a pretty good chance at getting far. Zangief dream only halfway dead?

I want Tonpy to do well (<3 Viper), but I'm not gonna expect him to even beat Justin. And my guy Luffy is probably fucked. I wouldn't wish any amount of Abel, Yun or Decapre on my worst enemies.

My gut prediction:

EDIT: I feel mostly confident about this list, but Infil vs Momo doesnt lean hard either way to me. And on the same note I think Daigo/Tokido and Bonchan/Kazunoko are interchangable for the purposes of this prediction.

In other news, popular Smash Bros Brawl modification Project M is shutting down. This doesn't come as much of a surprise since the launch of Smash Wii U and Nintendo's increased involvement in the Smash FGC was clearly choking the life out of the Project M community. Either way. Sad turn of events.
