Cody's knife: worth it?

I was playing a bit of Cody the other day, and one of the biggest X-factors about him seems to be his knife.  While some people say it's really not worth grabbing, I find it provides a good mix-up option in his game.  When he has the knife, he does significant chip damage, his jabs come out super fast, and it seems he gets a ton of priority (not to mention he can still do all his kicking moves AND the Criminal Upper).  My friend the other day said he was playing a Cody as Dudley, and couldn't get in with his dash punches because the knife was stuffing everything. 
I personally think that, if you can get the knife partway through a match without giving up your offensive pressure or putting yourself in a dangerous situation, it's worth it even if you're just going to throw it.  What does the GB community think?  Are you privy to using Cody's knife at all or do you think it's a distraction and a waste of time?

I would pick it up more if not for the fireball spam.

I generally pick it up for the quick jabs, most people don't expect the projectile for some reason... I'm a noob and find Cody as a fun character.

"I pick it up because, dude it's a KNIFE  TURN THE BEAT BACK! "

Of course you should use it, it gives extra range, chip damage, combo ability.....and is bad ass.
 
Just pm a mod to get it moved, problem solved.
