Has anyone ever studied for this?

I'm starting my studies on Monday and was wondering how people have got on, job wise.  What sort of work can I expect to get after finishing?

@sodiumCyclops:  Are you talking about like a Computer Science degree?

I'm doing an Advanced Diploma of Games Development Programming stream.

As for work, i'm not quite sure there. I'd know more about Software Engineering stuff, which i did 2 years of before transferring into this current one. But i think that would be very different work.

I'm going to assume you mean a Computer Science degree for the sake of this response. It sorta depends on what kind of things you want to do with your programming and what languages you intend on learning. I honestly can't give any specifics as I don't know a ton about it, but I'd do some research on different programming language and what they are applicable to. It's probably going to be hard-ish to find work considering the fierce competition for the few slots there are in the field(at least that's the impression I get), so you'll need to do some strong programs on the side to show you are a competent and elegant code writer.  I hope this helps somehow.

It's kind of open really. I will be doing things like Web Development to Immersive 3D environments.

I'm hoping to do well in the Web and 3D side of things, they would seem like the best options for work.

It's 1 of my 2 diplomas, and I'm doing high level tech support. It helps, but you really need to teach yourself a lot outside of class if you want to be a quality professional, regardless of the language.

@UnsolvedParadox: So while I am at school, I should also be doing my own study from home?
