So I was at my friends house and we were playing DOA 2...the greatest fighting game ever. I looked over at his stack of games and you'll never guess what I saw: Alienfront Online and Phantsay Star Online. I wanted to hook the bad boy up to the internet. He said no ones online, I said "bullshit, theirs always some one grinding games out online." Has anyone recenlty play PSO or AlienFront recently?
Does anyone play Dreamcast online?
I think Sega stopped supporting SegaNet (or whatever it was called) years ago. Fan servers are still up, but I've only heard of this for PSO.
" I didn't even know the DreamCast had an online feature :S "I want to hit you so hard, but there's no punch button on my keyboard. Damn you, Microsoft! WHEN WILL YOU PROVIDE US WITH A PUNCH BUTTON!!!
I had the DreamCast for years, however never knew it had on-line. Well, i got it cheap at a garage sale when it first came out, and there was no manuals or anything included, so i guess you can't blame me for not knowing.
Also, the games i had probably did not have an on-line feature. Spawn, Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Crazy Taxi. Or maybe they did. Oh well.
" @CornontheCobbe said:This is technically true from an official standpoint of console manufacturers actually deliberately inserting hardware that could connect to the Internet right into the system. Otherwise, online multiplayer in general was around even during the SNES and Genesis days if you had the right third-party hardware and were willing to fork over money for large phone bills. Prototypes existed even as far back as the NES, although funding and manufacturing support meant that they never made it to market." I didn't even know the DreamCast had an online feature :S "It was the first console with online multi I think. "
I tried 3 different original xbox games last night, and no one was online. Let alone the Dreamcast
There might be a reason agianst this. There hasn't been a good PSO game recently and their are some other exclusives people might wanna play once once a week for memories or what not.
That's one of my favorite things about PC gaming. I still play Jedi Academy. A game that came out 6+ years ago and there is still a ton of people that play online.
And there is apparently free servers running for PSO. Though you will have to google it yourself as I don't know giantbombs rules on linking quasi illegal type stuff.
some games for the dc use the pc servers. like quake 3. and there are some PSO fan servers up you can connect to.
UNFORTUNATELY NO CHU CHU ROCKET!
Chu CHu rocket was my first online game i ever played as i didnt even have a pc back when i got my dreamcast.
I would love to get back on PSO on the dreamcast. I hope there are servers for playing it properly and also ones for doing crazy stuff with codkebreakers and stuff too .
