I was just playing BF:BC2 and i was doing ok . I put my iPod on to shuffle and started listening to some metal and I went on an insane streak, when slower music played I still played better than usual but not as well as when I was listening to faster music. I have noticed this before in other games ( driving better in burnout etc ). Does this happen for you guys too?

No, but if the music is annoying, it's just going to piss me off and hate the game. I prefer in game music, anyway, unless it is a driving game.

Actually, just go ahead and put this one when you play a game. It's fast, it should make you play better! Clicky.

Well, not really. If I play without sound though, I play better with music. But I play way better with a good headset, so that I can hear where people are coming from.

Man playing some Counterstrike and shooting fools in the face was so much easier with some crazy techno going.  Used it to raise my rank in the server from 2....to 1.

It definitely has an effect. If you're listening to fast, heavy music that you're really into, it's going to give you a pretty good adrenaline boost, which would should make you perform better.

Never tried with an FPS game, but action games like Bayonetta, GoW, and the DW series If I was listening to metal i would tend to hit X and Y to the drum lines and guitar rhythms. Which sometimes worked out, others didn't.

Playing a multiplayer shooter with any type of music going usually makes me play poorly.

I generaly dont listen to music while playing games. Takes all the focus away from the game.

Ride of the Valkyries makes me play better, especially if I'm flying a helicopter.

This is weird. I thought everyone would agree with me. I also tend to play much more aggressively with music. My reaction times get way better.

Don't worry theguy, I agree with you. Listening to Metal or some sick Drum and Bass always gets me pumped and makes me play better.

I don't listen to music while I play, but here's my counter-argument: Magical Sound Shower from the Outrun series. It's pretty much the only song I ever pick and its the most relaxing song in an extremely fast-paced game.

I haven't tried it with an ipod. However, Burnout: Paradise has some metal music on it, and I usually do really good when it's playing.

This thread reminded me that my friend can only play NBA 2K8 well if he's listening to "Roll Call" by Lil' John.

I used to, back in the day when I played Counter-Strike on a high level I had my own gaming playlist  with a lot of techno and hard alternative rock, like Breaking Benjamin.
Now I only do it while playing casual singleplayer games.

That`s what music is, hehehe....  But you don`t need the `beat`.

Despite what Super Mario Bros thinks, not really. However, it does make me blog faster.
