I see it.

BF3 against COD

TOR against WoW....and now

C&C against SC2

EA doesn't need to go blow for blow against Activision. It seems that they are for every big franchise. I think competition is good but competition just for the sake of it leads to games getting pushed early and a lack of new ideas in most cases. Thoughts?

Both suck, Activision is far worse though.

I don't think C&C is being set up as being their counterattack to WoW. I think it's just they looked at the RTS market, saw opportunity to make a buck, and had a franchise with 15 years of name recognition. BF3 against CoD kind of had to happen, and TOR against WoW is just how releasing a new MMO works.

EA just happens to be big enough to make all these different genres. C&C has nothing to do with starcraft 2. it's just an rts genre. with sw:tor they have never had the bombast to say they are trying to take down wow. all they ever said was if we get 500k subs we are profitable. i think you are reading far too much into this.

EA is trying to be number one, that means they have to go against Activision by default doesn't it.

To gain recognition with the COD crowd who otherwise wouldn't hear about them, when it comes to Battlefield anyway.
No idea about any other games.

Seriously, who gives a shit about why companies put certain games out. As long as they are good games why does it matter at all.

Record and film companies have been doing exactly the same thing for decades, it's only natural that the gaming industry would follow suit once it got to this size.

EA used to be the big dog and it fell off as soon as Activision hit it big with the CoD franchise. Part of it probably stems from that too.

It's a business and Activison is arguably the top dog. If they aren't trying to overtake Activison, they are probably getting overtaken by Ubisoft or THQ. I just wish they were doing so by focusing on things they do well instead of childishly tryIng to 1up Activison's top money makers.

Because Activision makes more money than EA does.
