Free xbox live?

so i think that everyone on xbox live got a couple messages a few days ago just stating that  
1. original xbox live support is dropping april 15 
2. a code for free 400 points and 3 months of xbox live 
i just entered the code and got the free microsoft points. a couple weeks ago my xbox live gold ran out and i haven't renewed it yet. the message said that the xbox live gold was automatically added to my account but i'm still silver. is there some code that i need to enter or some place that i need to activate it?

I never put on Live on my original Xbox so I probably never got the message. But I'll check on xbox.com. Unfortunately my 360 is being repaired.

I tried to play a couple of xbox original games online about a  year ago on my 360. maybe that registered me as an original xbox user? idk

woh, i didn't even know about the halo reach beta. i was really disinterested in ODST but when i watched that multiplayer video a couple days ago for halo reach.....damn. 

I never played Halo 2 online on the xbox, or the 360, so I won't get a beta key for Reach. 

alright, well i guess that microsoft is just being slow with updating people to gold. i can't really blame them though. free microsoft points, xbox live, and reach beta? since when has microsoft had a heart, good customer support, and been less of a dick than activision? what is this world coming to?
