Giant Bomb inspired Dubstep web app

The guy's on the bombcast kept talking about searching for funny dubstep so I made a web app based around that - dbstp.it

Any comments / criticisms are appreciated.

Also, if you add your query string to the end of the url like this http://dbstp.it/?s=pizza it auto-opens to the video when you go to the site, its pretty funny to do to unsuspecting people.

I just found a dubstep of the Hamburger monologue from Pulp Fiction... This is the greatest thing ever made.

I like it. I'll probably end up sinking too much time into this but I would like to have somekind of plus/minus system so if the song is shit next person who searches the same thing would get something else. Right now I think it just plays the first song that comes up from youtube with search "X dubstep".

@Rappelsiini: You would be correct haha, its really really simple. But a lot of people don't search for funny / unexpected dubstep combinations on YouTube, so this might help usher them in the right direction. I personally think its a bit more amusing than searching on youtube. The plus / minus voting system seems like a good idea also.

@9999dmg: I agree, this somewhat user-friendlier than playing from YouTube. I have just one more idea to throw at you: After the song ends why not put it on auto and let the machine randomize the search so it just keeps playing? With that feature I'd probably use it as my personal dubstep DJ.

@Rappelsiini: Thats an awesome idea, I'll probably try to roll it into the next build. I think having a toggle that turns on DJ mode or something like that would work really nicely.

Thx man, it's been kind of like a gateway drug for me. When I started I didn't even really like dubstep but now I think its ok / funny.

well I think I've found a fun time killer for home! This little web app was quite clever, kudos for the creation. Are there already drum and bass or like jungle or even drumstep or any other variety out there or are those coming down the pike? :P

I searched for "wishbone" and it was just the original theme music. Seems like this thing is incapable of filtering out non dubstep when there is no dubstep to be found.

@VisariLoyalist: Haha no, sorry. It's only as capable of filtering out what is and what isn't Dubstep as YouTube is at putting that particular search in the number one spot.

But hey, that just means if you were to make a Wishbone dubstep remix, you would be #1.

For some reason I was looking for Mission Impossible dubstep yesterday and could not find any good ones. This website gave me what I wanted with one search and for that this is the best thing ever.

@NekuSakuraba: The site currently doesn't support any version of Internet Explorer because of the way IE handles some aspects of working with the YouTube API.

It should work fine on Windows as long as you use a browser like Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Opera.

If you are using mobile, you have to actually tap the screen to get the video / music to start because you can't autoplay on mobile, argh.

I may try to work out the Internet Explorer issues in the future.

Can't seem to find a way to lower the volume besides going to the actual youtube page
