How do I know if my SNES is working right?
ok, so I jsut got done buying a SNES from a place I go to (because I wanted one to play Mario world and Turtles in time and ETC.) and im not sure if its working right. I got a pile of games from a friend, and sometimes they dont work. Turtles in time usually works the first time, and teh other games usually work when they decide to. I try blowing in them, and I guess that works. Are the Cartridge based console basically built to wether they work or they dont, and if the games do work most of the time, than its probaly not the syestem, but the game cartridge?
Sounds like a good old regular dust problem.
Just blow in the cartridges, blow into the machine.
BLOW AS IF YOUR WIFE WAS DEPENDING ON IT!
Or.. is it life?
Also, there may be some dirt or gunk on the connections at the base of the cartridge. You can usually clean that up with some rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip. If you ever get a game that just doesn't work at all, that should be the first thing you try. Just clean that connection until it stops turning the Q-tip black.
Take a little rubbing alcohol on the edge of your finger and scrub all the connectors. Works like a charm.
Put a game that never works in the freezer for about 4 minutes, then see if it works. Seriously, it was our secret, we never understood but it always worked on the games where blowing stopped helping. Its probably something to do with making the connection cold? no clue but it really works.
"Errr get some non-corrosive pure alcohol and gently apply to a cotten swab and wipe the connecters on the cartridge and then get a canister of air and take away any remaining particles while making sure you're wearing a pair of non-static gloves..."
NONE OF THAT BULLSHIT JUST BLOW ON THE MOTHER EFFER!!!
" My guess is the pins in the connector (that thing you plug the game cartridge into) have become decompressed, which isn't allowing the connection to be made between the system and game cart. Hence why the games are only sometimes working. That's just my guess though. "This is probably it. Open the SNES... flaps... and look inside. Blow in there a bunch and blow the crap out of the cartridges. If they still don't work then the pins in the games or in your SNES might me a little messed up. Also, I noticed that when I shake a cartridge and I hear something rattling around... well... that they don't work.
