To Mods: Excuse me if this borderlines as off-topic or something. IF so just move it to there.
I enjoyed the jovial jabbing and interest into this game, but when Brad was trying to calm the peanut gallery (Ryan/Vinny), he made a comment about them being "Aspie's". In all honesty, I have Aspergers myself, so I chuckled at what he was trying to refer their actions to (freaking out / getting excited). I'm just worried about someone else who is Autistic in any way to take actual offense. Perhaps I should email them on the bombcast or something about this concern?
Thoughts?
I loved the Quick Look for Real Heroes: Firefighter...but...
No, if you weren't offended but you're afraid others will be, then that is everything I hate about this world.
This. If you get offended by stuff on the internet, you shouldn't be on it in the first place." On the internet, you've got to learn to not be offended by anything. "
" On the internet, you've got to learn to not be offended by anything. "Exactly.
Also, if you're not offended, have faith in others that they'll take it in stride, too. I'm envisioning a scenario that's something along the lines of a person coming to the defense of someone else for fear that they may have been offended when in actuality they're perfectly fine with it (I've had such situations happen to me, as I'm sure many of us have). I could see the conversation going something like...
"I'm so sorry they made a joke about your condition/race/gender/sexual orientation/etc."
"Nah, it's cool. I don't see what the big deal is; it was just a harmless joke"
"But they offended you, you have every right to be upset."
"Seriously, I'm fine. I even laughed a biit."
"But they OFFENDED you! You MUST be upset! I'll MAKE them apologize"
"The only thing offending me at this point is the fact you're not listening to me and have decided to wage some sort of unholy crusade in my name."
"BURN THEM AT THE STAKE!"
Not to say you're a crazy person waging unholy crusades or anything! Nor did I experience such an outrageous situation myself (though very close, only with less burning at the stake). I just let my mind wander down the rabbit hole and that's where it ended up leading.
So on a scale of 1-10, 10 being "completely incapable of doing anything in life" and 1 being "capable of posting up a grammatically correct post on an internet forum using the word jovial", just how intense of ASD is Asperger's? I'm just wondering, since Asperger's happens to be a form of ASD that affects linguistic skills...
" @AndrewB said:Are you say such behavior is not natural? it's for one if it's a topic which actually could be hurtful and they should be angry (even though this is not that kind of situation), then you should be somewhat angry at them for not caring." but then again that might be their way of defending themself, accept anything or ignore it. show that you care is a Must for people (even though on the interwebs this is kinda stupid (no offence)).
and also HA! that made me crack up.
I dont understand how people can get offended over the internet, do you people actually care what people you never met and live far away from thinks or says?
Basically, Asperger's just makes you obsessive, clueless in social situations, incalculably anxious, and nearly robotic in the use of your intellect, for those who were wondering. The factors balance differently per person, but essentially, the symptoms are the classic 'nerd' stereotype. Skin problems are even at a higher rate.
I have Asperger's and am not offended. It's the internet.

However, I used to be a lot worse when I was younger. Now I can almost fit normally into society!

I have Asperger's too. I saw the quick look, it's nothing to get worked up about. I thought it was funny actually. I think it's good that more and more people are starting to become familiar with it (enough to joke about it).
If you yourself are not actually offended, don't assume other people must be. It's no big deal.
The actual comment: "Apparently I'm the only one that cares about this person...because Brad is over here Aspergering about the fire."
Asperger Syndrome via Wikipedia: "Intense preoccupation with a narrow subject...and physical clumsiness are typical of the condition"
That's pretty funny, actually. I didn't even notice Ryan say that the first time I watched the Quick Look.
Wow, it seems there are a whole bunch of people on here that are on the autistic spectrum. Myself included.
I thought Ryan's comment was weird, but I suppose when you take his personality into account it makes sense. He seems to me to pride himself on being a dick. So being an offensive person is just what he does.
" @Hamst3r said:"Asperger Syndrome via Wikipedia: "Intense preoccupation with a narrow subject...and physical clumsiness are typical of the condition"Then it would seem most of the people I know have Asperger's. = / "
Alot of people "Self-Diagnose" themselves with Asperger's, even though alot of them probably haven't heard it from a doctor, which is why I bet half the people who are in this thread who are saying they have it really don't. (And if you really do, sorry, but alot of people say they have it when they don't.)
